About
Ongtong Khao Soi is a small northern Thai shophouse at 31 Phahon Yothin Soi 7, next to Wandee Cafe and under ten minutes on foot from BTS Ari. Khao soi is the point. A 2019 Michelin Guide feature says the restaurant held a Bib Gourmand and recommends the stewed chicken-leg khao soi, the pu ong (field-crab dip) and grilled crab fat served in the shell; the current guide listing shows no award. Time Out recorded prices in 2017 of 69 baht for chicken khao soi, 79 for the dry-fried version with a choice of chicken, pork, beef or sai ua sausage, and 79 for pork crackling with young-chilli dip. A 2021 Kasikornbank feature adds pork hang lay curry over rice and the dry-fried beef shank khao soi as house favourites. Prices have likely moved, but a solo lunch still lands well under 200 baht. Grab lists hours as daily 09:00 to 20:30. The room is small, so weekend lunch can mean a wait. Google 4.3 from 1,920 reviews.
