The hard part of choosing a rooftop bar in Bangkok is not finding one but knowing what each costs, who gets in and which ones are worth the lift. This 2026 list ranks 14 rooftop bars whose floors, hours, drink prices and door rules are published by the venue, its hotel or the press: the famous towers in Silom and Sathorn, the Sukhumvit and Thonglor rooftops on the BTS, three bars across the river reached by boat, and a handful of cheap rooftops where shorts are fine. Ranking comes from Google rating and review volume, sourced prices and editorial judgement.

Budget in three bands. Neighbourhood rooftops: at Cielo beer is 120 baht and cocktails start at 250, and View Rooftop’s two-for-one classic cocktails start at 370++. Mid-range hotel rooftops such as Octave, Tichuca, Above Eleven and ThreeSixty: cocktails 350 to 500. The landmark towers: Sky Bar’s signature cocktails are reported at 1,500 baht in 2026, and SIN and Sky Beach work on table minimums of 2,000 to 5,000 baht. Almost every bill adds 10 percent service and 7 percent VAT, shown as ”++” on menus. The rail map does most of the planning: BTS Thong Lo for Octave and Tichuca, Nana and Asok for Soi 11 and The Continent, Chong Nonsi for Mahanakhon, Saphan Taksin for State Tower and the boats to the Thonburi bank, and Chit Lom for Red Sky and Pratunam.

How Bangkok rooftop bars work: dress codes, entry fees, minimum spend

Three rules decide whether your night goes smoothly, and none of them is about the view. The first is the dress code. The towers mean it: lebua’s own page bans athletic wear, swimwear, sleeveless shirts for men, flip-flops and beach slippers, and the check happens at the ground-floor lift, not at the bar. Octave, Above Eleven and SIN apply the same standard, Vertigo asks for smart casual with no shorts or flip-flops, and SIN and Above Eleven want closed shoes on men. Tichuca publishes no dress code (The Rooftop Guide calls it casual, though Time Out describes a more dressed-up crowd than at the hotel rooftops), and the neighbourhood rooftops are relaxed, but Tichuca makes up for it with an ID check: 20 and over, original passport only, photos and copies refused.

The second rule is money at the door, which in Bangkok almost never means a cover charge. It means a minimum spend. Octave asks 1,000 baht per person for a table and nothing at the railing. Moon Bar on Vertigo’s deck is 800 baht a head. SIN is 5,000 baht per table, which is why it suits a group splitting the bill. Sky Beach is the exception that does charge to get in, because it sits at the top of the Mahanakhon SkyWalk: the official site prices tickets from 500 to 1,200 baht by time of day, and a 2026 review reports a 2,000-baht minimum at the bar during sunset.

The third rule is booking. Sky Bar, Tichuca, Moon Bar and the Red Sky bar on the 56th floor are walk-in only; Sky Beach is first come, first seated. If you want a guaranteed table, book Octave, Above Eleven, SIN or a window at Bangkok Heightz, which takes a 500-baht per person deposit that comes off the bill.

Best rooftop bars in Bangkok (the ones worth the price)

If you only have one evening, Octave ranks first because it gets the balance right. It is two minutes from a BTS station, the 49th-floor bar is open to the sky in every direction, and the 17:00 to 19:00 happy hour brings a famous rooftop down to neighbourhood prices. Vertigo and Moon Bar is the most dramatic deck in the city, a bar with no walls 61 floors above Sathorn; come early in the dry season, because rain closes the outdoor deck. Sky Bar is on every first-time visitor’s list for the gold dome and The Hangover Part II, but its Google score of 3.9 from more than 7,300 reviews is the lowest here and a fair summary of the price. Have one drink at sunset and leave.

SIN is the newest name with weight. It opened on the Avani+ Riverside’s roof in November 2024, according to Time Out, and turns into a DJ night later on. Above Eleven is the pick for people who want to eat properly without leaving the roof. For dinner-first rooftops, including the two Michelin-starred rooms in State Tower, see the rooftop restaurants in Bangkok guide.

Cheap rooftop bars in Bangkok with no dress code

The cheap end is better than its reputation, as long as you accept a lower floor or a longer ride. Cielo sits on the 46th floor of a condo tower in W District, so the height is real, and the published prices are the lowest of any high rooftop on this list: Singha at 120 baht, cocktails from 250, chicken wings at 190. You check in at the condo’s visitors’ office before the lift. View Rooftop on the ninth floor of the Novotel Platinum Pratunam is low by Bangkok standards, but it looks over the Pratunam market roofs to the Ratchaprasong towers, and its 17:00 two-for-one hour starts at 370++ baht. Google rates it 4.8 from more than 2,200 reviews.

Nowhere, on the sixth floor of a small hotel on Soi Ekkamai 6, is the most casual of all, with opening-era cocktails at 350 baht and a Thonglor skyline at eye level. Tichuca is not cheap at 400 to 500 baht a cocktail, but it is free to enter and sets no dress code in its FAQ, and Time Out describes its crowd as younger than at the hotel rooftops. Google Maps also lists a cluster of small rooftops around Khao San and Tani Road in the Old Town; they are not ranked here.

Rooftop bars in Sukhumvit and Thonglor

Sukhumvit is where most visitors stay, and the rooftops follow the BTS line. At Nana, Soi 11 holds Above Eleven on the 33rd floor of Fraser Suites and Pastel on the 22nd floor of the Aira Hotel on the same soi, both serious kitchens. At Asok, The Continent stacks two rooftops on one tower: Axis & Spin on 38, open until 02:00, and Bangkok Heightz on 39, a Thai restaurant first. At Thong Lo, Octave is two minutes from the station and Tichuca is a five-minute walk down Soi 40. Past Ekkamai, Cielo at Phra Khanong closes the line with the cheapest drinks. For dinner on the same stretch, see Sukhumvit restaurants and Thonglor restaurants.

Rooftop bars in Silom, Sathorn and the riverside

Silom and Sathorn hold the towers that made Bangkok’s rooftop reputation. State Tower at the Charoen Krung end of Silom carries Sky Bar on 64, Mezzaluna on 65 and Chef’s Table on 61, the last two both holding two stars in the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2026, and A Life of Y warns of a short wait for the lift around 20:00 to 21:00. Vertigo is a taxi or a ten-minute walk from MRT Lumphini along South Sathorn. Sky Beach is on top of Mahanakhon, right at BTS Chong Nonsi.

Across the river, the Thonburi bank has the best view of all of it. SIN and SEEN share the Avani+ Riverside, linked by a free hotel boat from Sathorn Pier, beside BTS Saphan Taksin, every half hour from 08:15 to 23:15. ThreeSixty at the Millennium Hilton is 100 metres from BTS Charoen Nakhon on the Gold Line and has its own shuttle boat. For food on the same streets, see Silom restaurants, Sathorn restaurants and riverside restaurants in Bangkok.

Highest rooftop bars in Bangkok and the best sunset times

By floor, the order on this list is Sky Beach on 78, Sky Bar on 64, Vertigo and Moon Bar on 61, the Red Sky complex from 55 to CRU on 59, Octave at 45 to 49 and Tichuca and Cielo on 46. Height changes what you see. From the 60s and above the city flattens into a map; from the 30s and 40s, at Above Eleven, Axis & Spin or Bangkok Heightz, you look across at other towers and down into the streets, which many people prefer at night.

Sunset falls between about 18:00 and 18:45 depending on the month. Arrive by 17:30 to take an edge spot, especially at walk-in bars where the railing is first come. The wet season from roughly June to October brings evening storms, so the bars with a roof or an indoor fallback, ThreeSixty’s glass dome, CHAR’s retractable roof on Wireless Road and Vertigo Too inside the Banyan Tree, are the safer bookings then.

Rooftop bars with real food

Several rooftops are restaurants that happen to have a bar. Above Eleven’s ceviche and tiradito, Bangkok Heightz’s lamb shank massaman (690 baht in BK Magazine’s report), Pastel’s Mediterranean seafood platters and Yào’s dim sum on the 32nd floor of the Marriott Surawongse all justify staying for dinner. At the top of the price scale, Ojo on the 76th floor of Mahanakhon is a Mexican restaurant two floors below Sky Beach. For Michelin-level cooking at height, Mezzaluna and Chef’s Table share State Tower with Sky Bar; both are covered in the Michelin restaurants in Bangkok list.

Getting to Bangkok rooftop bars

Use the train and keep taxis for the trip home. The useful stations are BTS Thong Lo, Nana, Asok, Chit Lom, Chong Nonsi and Saphan Taksin, plus MRT Lumphini and Sukhumvit and BTS Charoen Nakhon on the Gold Line. Hotel rooftops start at the hotel lobby, not at a street door. Drivers have parking at some of them: Fraser Suites gives Above Eleven guests free parking, the Millennium Hilton has a car park for ThreeSixty, and at Tichuca a Wongnai reviewer reports three hours stamped for a 1,500-baht spend in the T-One Building. For the riverside bars, note the last hotel boat back from SEEN at 23:00 and plan a taxi over Taksin Bridge after that.

Quick answers

FAQ

7 questions
What is the tallest sky bar in Bangkok?

The highest bar on this list is Sky Beach on the 78th floor of King Power Mahanakhon, next to BTS Chong Nonsi. You reach it on a Mahanakhon SkyWalk ticket rather than paying at a bar door, and the official site prices tickets from 500 to 1,200 baht by time slot; 2026 press reports disagree on the sunset price. Next come Sky Bar on the 64th floor of State Tower, 247 metres up according to lebua, and Vertigo and Moon Bar on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree.

What should I wear to a rooftop bar in Bangkok?

Smart casual covers almost every hotel rooftop. That means no sportswear, swimwear, flip-flops or beach slippers, and for men no sleeveless tops and usually closed shoes. Sky Bar, Octave, Above Eleven and SIN state these rules and enforce them at the lift; Vertigo asks for smart casual with no shorts or flip-flops, and Pastel's code comes from Phuket 101 rather than the bar itself. Tichuca's own FAQ sets no dress code; The Rooftop Guide calls it casual, while Time Out says its crowd dresses up more than at the hotel rooftops. View Rooftop publishes none, and at Sky Beach the rule that matters is wearing shoes on the glass floor.

Do rooftop bars in Bangkok have an entry fee?

Most do not. Sky Bar, Octave, Tichuca and Above Eleven charge nothing at the door and you pay for drinks. What you meet instead is a minimum spend: 1,000 baht per person for a table at Octave, 800 baht per person at Moon Bar, 5,000 baht per table at SIN, and a reported 2,000 baht at Sky Beach during sunset. Sky Beach itself sits behind the SkyWalk ticket, 500 to 1,200 baht by time slot.

Which rooftop bars in Bangkok have no dress code?

Tichuca's FAQ sets no dress code and The Rooftop Guide calls it casual, though Time Out notes a dressed-up crowd, and the door demands an original passport and an age of 20 or more. View Rooftop at the Novotel Platinum Pratunam publishes no dress code, and Cielo in W District and Nowhere on Soi Ekkamai 6 are neighbourhood rooftops where shorts are normal. Expect the hotel towers in Silom, Sathorn and on Sukhumvit to turn away flip-flops and sleeveless tops for men.

What is the cheapest rooftop bar in Bangkok?

Cielo Sky Bar in W District, by BTS Phra Khanong, has the lowest published prices of any high rooftop on this list: Singha at 120 baht, cocktails from 250 and a Thai mojito at 350, with 17 percent service and VAT on top. View Rooftop in Pratunam runs two-for-one classic cocktails from 370++ baht between 17:00 and 18:00, and Octave's 17:00 to 19:00 happy hour halves its signature cocktails.

Which rooftop bar in Bangkok is best for sunset?

For a skyline sunset, Octave's 49th-floor bar and Vertigo's open deck give the widest views west across the city. For the river, SIN and ThreeSixty on the Thonburi bank look back at the downtown towers as the light goes. Sunset in Bangkok falls between about 18:00 and 18:45 through the year, so arrive by 17:30 to get an edge spot.

Do I need a reservation for rooftop bars in Bangkok?

Often you cannot make one. Sky Bar and Tichuca are walk-in only, Moon Bar and the Red Sky bar on the 56th floor are first come, and Sky Beach seats people in arrival order. Do book for SIN, where tables carry a 5,000-baht minimum, for Above Eleven, for the window tables at Bangkok Heightz, and for Octave if you want a table rather than the railing.
