Romantic Restaurants Bangkok: 18 Date-Night Tables by the River, in Gardens and Up High
Romantic restaurants in Bangkok by setting and budget: tables facing Wat Arun, a colonial mansion, rooftops, garden rooms and dates under 500 baht.
Romantic restaurants in Bangkok are mostly chosen for what the table looks at: Wat Arun across the river, the Rama VIII Bridge after dark, Sukhumvit from 39 floors up, or nothing much at all in a dim little room off Sathorn Soi 1. This 2026 guide ranks 18 places for a date night, an anniversary or a first dinner out in the city, grouped by setting and by budget. It is written for couples who live here and for visitors with one evening to get right. Prices, opening hours and booking details come from published sources: the restaurant’s own site, the Michelin Guide, Time Out, BK Magazine, Wongnai and dated reviews. The ranking weighs Google rating and review volume, documented dishes, and how well the setting works for two people rather than a family table.
Budgets fall into three rough tiers per head. Under 500 baht: Khanab Nam on its pier under Krung Thon Bridge, De Chote’s garden glasshouse in Bang Khae, Bulwark on Ratchaphruek and B-Story in Ratchathewi, with Naam 1608 (250 to 700) straddling that line. From 400 to 2,000 baht: Kinlom Chomsaphan, Masa Garden, Park Sathorn, Capricci, Bangkok Heightz, Le Bouchon and Otto. From 1,000 to 3,500 baht and more: Cento, The House on Sathorn, Bisou and SEEN. Rongros and Supanniga publish no current price list, so they get no band here. Getting there splits by setting. The Tha Tien river tables are a walk from MRT Sanam Chai exit 1 or the Chao Phraya Express boat to Tha Tien pier, Naam 1608 is ten minutes on foot from MRT Hua Lamphong, and SEEN runs its own boat from Sathorn Pier at BTS Saphan Taksin. Cento and The House on Sathorn are walks from BTS Sala Daeng and Chong Nonsi, Le Bouchon a few minutes from MRT Lumphini, while Capricci on Yen Akat Road and Park Sathorn need a taxi; Bangkok Heightz is at BTS Asok and Bisou at BTS Chit Lom. The Thonburi places in Bang Khae, Ratchaphruek and Pinklao need a car or a Grab, and each has parking.

Romantic restaurants in Bangkok by setting and budget
Pick the view first and the hour second. A river table at sunset means booking for about 17:30 to 18:00, which at Rongros falls in its dinner sitting from 17:00. A skyline means after dark: Bangkok Heightz opens at 17:00, and arriving around 18:00 gets you both views. A room that is the whole point, such as Le Bouchon, Cento, Bisou or Capricci, works at any hour it is open, and most of them run late.
If the brief is unique restaurants in Bangkok rather than a view, this list has a few buildings with a past. Rongros is a converted garage, The House on Sathorn a colonial-era mansion, Cento a warehouse, Masa Garden a Kyoto-style house, and Naam 1608 a restored wooden house on the river. Rongros ranks first because it combines the Wat Arun view, a Michelin recommendation and 4.7 on Google from almost 5,000 reviews. Bangkok Heightz is second on 4.8 from more than 3,300 reviews and a lift ride from a BTS exit. Big family garden canteens are left off; this list keeps the places that suit two.
A romantic dinner by the river: Wat Arun and Rama VIII Bridge views
Tha Tien is the strongest stretch for a romantic dinner in Bangkok because the restaurants sit on the east bank and look west, straight at Wat Arun. Rongros runs two sittings a day, 11:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 22:00, and closes in between, so a late-afternoon walk-in will find it shut. Beyond the green curry, the Michelin Guide names a tangy glass-noodle salad, and its Rattanakosin map adds shrimp fried rice and dried fish over watermelon. A few doors along, Supanniga Eating Room’s menu goes further into the family’s Trat recipes: Time Out picks out nam prik khai pu, a hot crab-roe relish, and cabbage fried in Trat fish sauce. It also mentions a coconut rice cake with taro, corn and dried shrimp made only at this branch in small batches, so call ahead if you want it. Supanniga opens at 10:00 at weekends and books through Chope.
Upstream, Kinlom Chomsaphan is the place for the Rama VIII Bridge. It is a big place, 81 to 150 seats on Wongnai, built for family tables as much as couples, with an air-conditioned room inside for hot nights. Wongnai members list tom yum goong at 260 baht and blue crab som tam at 300, and Wongnai reviewers report some dishes selling out early. Google and Thailand Magazine list closing at midnight, Wongnai at 23:00, so call before a late booking. Downstream in Talat Noi, Naam 1608 is the quiet alternative: a café by day that turns into a dining room as the light goes, with nam prik long ruea and kaeng som fish curry on a short menu and grilled river prawns at weekends. Portions are small. It stays open until 23:00 on Friday and Saturday. For more tables on the water, see our guide to restaurants on the Chao Phraya River and the hotel rooms of riverside restaurants along Charoen Krung.
Restaurants with a view: rooftops and high floors for date night
Of the restaurants with a view in Bangkok, Bangkok Heightz is the easiest to reach: walk out of BTS Asok and take the lift in The Continent. The menu starts from street dishes and replates them; BK Magazine listed a lamb shank massaman at 690 baht, a deep-fried lobster in panang sauce at 1,400 and Thai-named cocktails such as the Cha Yen at 320, prices that may have changed since. A January 2026 review found only one vegetarian main left, a green curry with eggplant.
SEEN takes more planning and gives the better picture. The free shuttle boat leaves Sathorn Pier every half hour from 08:15 to 23:15, and an hourly boat runs from ICONSIAM between 12:25 and 20:25. The open-air bar on the floor above became SIN in late 2024. The only recent price on record is a nine-course tasting menu at 3,290++ baht in an August 2025 Thai review, and Thailand Magazine calls the prices steep, so treat it as an anniversary rather than a Tuesday. Otto, on the 11th floor in Thonglor, is the low-key option: a terrace over the soi and a set lunch a 2023 review priced at 480++ baht. For the full field, including the tasting menus on State Tower, see rooftop restaurants in Bangkok; for drinks before dinner, rooftop bars in Bangkok.
Garden restaurants in Bangkok for a slower dinner
Of the garden restaurants in Bangkok on this list, Park Sathorn has the most open ground on the city side of the river. It is the younger sibling of Baan Suan Sathorn next door, linked by a walkway, and it hosts weddings in its main building, so check for a private event before a weekend booking. Wongnai reviewers recommend angel hair with scallops and herb-grilled pork ribs, fault a tough duck confit and an over-salted morning glory, and suggest the bingsu with a light-roast iced Americano for an afternoon date. A whole Phuket lobster was 2,350 baht in BK Magazine’s opening review. It is far from any station, and parking in the soi is easy.
Masa Garden is the small, enclosed version. Beyond the sukiyaki, there is a shabu set with pork-bone broth and a 450-baht bakudan, a sashimi mix of crab, fish, squid and raw egg wrapped in grilled seaweed at the table. It opens 11:00 to 22:00, but Time Out’s listing disagrees with itself on a Monday closure, so ring 02-123-8581 first. A motorbike from the mouth of Sukhumvit 39 is faster than walking from BTS Phrom Phong. At The House on Sathorn, the courtyard also serves afternoon tea from 14:30 to 17:30, which is the cheaper way to sit in the mansion’s garden. Across the river, De Chote’s glasshouse is a lunch or early-evening date: sources give closing times anywhere from 20:00 to 22:00. Wongnai’s Bang Khae list adds salted-egg seafood and fried sea bass with fresh herbs, and the drinks include a smoked Thai tea. More of the area is in our Bang Khae restaurants and Sathorn restaurants guides.
Cozy rooms: dim bistros and small Italian dining rooms
The cozy restaurants in Bangkok on this list are mostly in Sathorn and Silom. Le Bouchon has fed the city’s French residents since 1996; Tripexpert calls it perhaps Bangkok’s most authentic French bistro. Beyond the onion soup and tartare, the restaurant’s own site shows beef Wellington, roast chicken and foie gras terrine, and regulars order the escargots and the lamb shank with white beans. It opens 11:30 to 23:30 with a lunch kitchen that closes at 14:45, and it is a dozen minutes on foot from BTS Surasak or MRT Lumphini. Book on +66 2 125 2179. Bisou is the newer, dearer French room, opened in 2024 by chef Antoine Darquin and sommelier Théo Lavergne. Its menu is built for sharing: black truffle French toast at 390 baht, wagyu tartare at 590, a beef Wellington with foie gras at 2,990 and a whole French pigeon with smoked eel at 2,650. Add 10 percent service and 7 percent VAT. Valet parking is free.
For a romantic Italian restaurant in Bangkok, Cento and Capricci sit at either end of the mood. Cento is a warehouse with a long wine list and a kitchen that adds crudos, burrata with Chiang Mai tomatoes and clams in a white wine and nduja broth; Time Out lists a Sunday lunch, so check before you assume dinner only. Capricci is the darker room, red-lit, on the residential stretch of Yen Akat Road, with a menu Time Out’s English edition credits to chefs Arnaud Dunand and Christian Matena and a crispy piadina under Parmesan at 350 baht. Google and Time Out disagree on its days, so call 065 853 9336. More options are in Italian restaurants in Bangkok and fine dining in Bangkok.
Romantic restaurants under 500 baht a head
A good date night in Bangkok does not need a hotel. Khanab Nam is the clearest example: Wongnai lists ped ron crispy duck at 260 baht and seafood hor mok, o suan oyster omelette and prawn cakes at 180 each. Reviewers rate the river breeze above the cooking, and the Wongnai reviews on show predate 2020, so go for the pier and the bridge. Enter from Ratchawithi Road on the Thonburi side, where parking is on site; it opens at 11:00 and closes at 23:00 or midnight depending on the source. See our Pinklao restaurants guide for the rest of that bank.
B-Story has been on Bangkok café lists since 2015. A 2019 review priced squid-ink spaghetti with grilled prawn in tom yum sauce at 320 baht; expect that to have risen. Ladyironchef liked the stir-fried cabbage with fish sauce and warns that the som tum is very spicy. Bulwark, on the Ratchaphruek side, suits a date that runs from late afternoon into the evening: it opens at 14:00, closes Mondays, and serves paprika fries at 170 baht and spaghetti carbonara at 340. Reviewers praise the atmosphere and the service, and complain that portions are small and some dishes are slow. Wongnai’s tier is 251 to 500 baht a head. More nearby in Ratchaphruek restaurants and Ratchathewi restaurants.
Date night in Bangkok: booking, timing and getting there
Book every room on this list for a Friday or Saturday. Rongros takes reservations on +66 96 946 1785; Supanniga through Chope or 092 253 9251; Cento through SevenRooms or LINE @centobangkok; The House on Sathorn through SevenRooms or 02 344 4025. Bangkok Heightz holds window tables against the 500-baht per person deposit, and Bisou’s weekends fill about a week out. For Valentine’s Day, book two weeks or more ahead and confirm the table, terrace or window, in writing.
Sunset falls between about 17:45 and 18:50 depending on the month, so check the date before you book a river table. From May to October, rain can close outdoor seating with little warning; Kinlom Chomsaphan, Park Sathorn and De Chote all have air-conditioned rooms to move into. On the way home, the last SEEN boat back to Sathorn Pier leaves at 23:00, after which it is a taxi over Taksin Bridge. The BTS and MRT stop running around midnight, so a late dinner at Bisou, Cento or Bar Sathorn ends in a car. For a wider list beyond date nights, see the best restaurants in Bangkok.
Quick answers
FAQ
What is the most romantic restaurant in Bangkok?
It depends on what you want to look at. For Wat Arun at sunset, Rongros on Maha Rat Road, recommended by the Michelin Guide, or Supanniga Eating Room a few doors along. For the city lit up, Bangkok Heightz on the 39th floor at Asok. For an old house, The House on Sathorn beside the W Bangkok. For a small French room, Le Bouchon off Sathorn Soi 1 or Bisou on Soi Langsuan.
Where can I have a romantic dinner in Bangkok on a budget?
Khanab Nam, under Krung Thon Bridge on the Thonburi side, seats you on a pier over the Chao Phraya for 250 to 500 baht a head, with most dishes at 180 to 320 baht. Naam 1608 in Talat Noi runs 250 to 700 on a wooden deck by the water. Further out, De Chote's garden glasshouse in Bang Khae costs 250 to 500, and Bulwark on Ratchaphruek lets you bring wine for 300 baht corkage.
Which are the best restaurants in Bangkok with a view for a date?
For the river, Rongros and Supanniga Eating Room in Tha Tien look straight across at Wat Arun, and Kinlom Chomsaphan faces the Rama VIII Bridge. For the skyline, SEEN on the 26th floor of the Avani+ Riverside looks across the water at downtown, and Bangkok Heightz on the 39th floor at Asok looks along Sukhumvit. Otto's 11th-floor terrace in Thonglor is the low-key option, with a set lunch priced at 480++ baht in a 2023 review.
Are there garden restaurants in Bangkok for a quiet dinner?
Yes. Park Sathorn on Soi Si Aksorn has big trees, a stream and koi ponds, with air-conditioned rooms to retreat to. Masa Garden, down an alley off Sukhumvit 39, serves sukiyaki in a Kyoto-style house with a zen garden, and Paii at The House on Sathorn has a garden beside the mansion. De Chote's glasshouse in Bang Khae needs a car, and its closing time varies by source, so call before an evening visit.
Do I need to book a romantic restaurant for Valentine's Day in Bangkok?
Yes, and early, because the small rooms fill first. Bisou's weekend tables already go about a week out in an ordinary month, so book two weeks or more ahead for 14 February. Le Bouchon and Naam 1608 have few tables, Bangkok Heightz holds window seats only against a deposit, and Rongros takes bookings on +66 96 946 1785.
Which river restaurants in Bangkok face the sunset?
The ones on the Phra Nakhon bank, because they look west across the Chao Phraya. Rongros and Supanniga Eating Room in Tha Tien put Wat Arun between you and the setting sun, and the Michelin Guide suggests a Rongros terrace table for exactly that. Kinlom Chomsaphan's terrace faces the Rama VIII Bridge, and reviewers mention the sunset from Naam 1608's deck. SEEN, on the Thonburi bank, faces east: go there for the lit skyline.
Is there a dress code at Bangkok's romantic hotel restaurants?
Two places on this list publish one. SEEN on the 26th floor of the Avani+ Riverside asks for casual chic and turns away sportswear and flip-flops, and men need sleeves and closed shoes. The House on Sathorn asks for smart casual. The others publish no dress code, but for the hotel dining rooms and rooftops, long trousers and closed shoes are the safe choice.
