Rama 9 Restaurants: 10 Places Around MRT Phra Ram 9, Inside and Outside Central
Rama 9 restaurants around MRT Phra Ram 9: Isan food on Ratchada Soi 5, hot pot until 3am, cheap eats, a hockey-rink bakery and Central Rama 9 in short.
Rama 9 restaurants come in two kinds, and which one you want decides where you go. Around the MRT Phra Ram 9 junction, where Rama 9 Road crosses Ratchadaphisek in Huai Khwang district, the food lives inside office towers and malls: Central Rama 9, Fortune Town, G Tower and the Unilever building. East of the junction, Rama 9 Road runs for kilometres toward The Nine Center and Pattanakarn, and the eating there is Isan shops in the sois, house cafes and noodle stalls you reach by car. This guide is for people working in those towers, expats living along the Blue Line and visitors staying near Ratchada. It ranks 10 places whose dishes and prices could be checked against menus, delivery listings and food-site round-ups in 2026, seven inside Central Rama 9 and three outside it. Shops outside the mall with no published menu are named in the sections below, unranked. Ranking draws on Google rating and review volume, dish evidence and editorial judgement.
Rama 9 food costs fall into three bands. Made-to-order, curry-rice and Isan shops outside the mall run 50 to 150 baht. Mall restaurants and cafes come to 250 to 500 baht a head. Hot pot and long-sitting shabu land between 500 and 1,000. Getting here is easy if you stay near the junction: MRT Phra Ram 9 has an underground walkway into the B floor of Central Rama 9, Fortune Town stands beside the station, and the street exits come up on Ratchadaphisek, for Soi 3 and Soi 5, and on Rama 9 Road. Drivers park at Central Rama 9, Fortune Town or G Tower and walk. Rama 9 Soi 49, The Nine and Pattanakarn have no rail line at all.

Rama 9 in two halves: the MRT junction and the long road east
The junction half is about 500 metres across. Almost everything in it is a chain, and chains publish menus and dish lists that can be checked, which is why seven of the ten ranked places sit inside one mall. Central Rama 9 splits by floor: B and B1 hold the quick, cheaper lunches (Kabocha Sushi, The Bibimbab, Hitori Shabu, Jones’ Salad), the 6th floor has On the Table and the big conveyor and steak chains, and the 7th floor is for groups who plan to stay, with Haidilao and Hua Seng Hong. G Tower and Fortune Town add a few more options within a five-minute walk of the station.
The second half starts once you pass the expressway and keep going east. Rama 9 Road’s numbered sois branch off toward Pattanakarn, and this is where the restaurants become family businesses: an Isan shop on Soi 7/1 with thousands of Grab reviews, a duck larb place on Soi 49, a noodle shop on Soi 26 that has been open for three decades. The Barn, inside the ice hockey arena on the Bang Kapi side, publishes its full menu; the rest come from GrabFood and Chillpainai round-ups and appear below as pointers. If you are coming from the Ratchada side, our Ratchada restaurants guide picks up where this one stops, and the night-market blocks a few stops north are in Huai Khwang restaurants.
Rama 9 restaurants near the MRT, outside the mall
A common question about Rama 9 is where to eat without going into Central. From the station there are three walkable answers.
The Ratchadaphisek exit brings you up at the top of the road. Zabb One on Soi 5 is the ranked pick here: a small room open 10:00 to 22:00, and a menu built on tom saep and larb, which GrabFood’s Ratchada list picks out with the som tam. On Soi 3, Visit Amanta lists Uan chicken rice, open 24 hours from 35 baht, and Pak Panang, a southern Thai curry-rice shop from 40 baht.
The Rama 9 Road exit puts you on the outbound side. Banpuku Yokocho, an izakaya at 12/1 Rama 9 Road, appears on Hungry Hub’s list of restaurants by the MRT, and Google gives its hours as noon to 01:00; it publishes no menu prices. For izakaya in Bangkok more widely, see our guide to Japanese restaurants in Bangkok. Further along, GrabFood’s Rama 9 list names Somyong Tam Sua 2 on Rama 9 Soi 7/1, an Isan shop with more than 4,000 Grab reviews, where Grab’s picks are the tam sua and raw beef larb, open Monday to Saturday from 09:30 to 21:30.
The Jodd Fairs night market no longer runs on the land behind Central Rama 9. Brand Buffet reported in February 2024 that its lease there was extended only to the end of 2024 and that the operator was moving to a site on Ratchadaphisek beside MRT Thailand Cultural Centre, opening in January 2025, and Seth Lui reported the Rama 9 market torn down in January 2025. Check the market’s own page for the Ratchada nights; our Ratchada restaurants guide covers that stretch. One stop north, MRT Thailand Cultural Centre is the stop for The Street Ratchada, a mall that never closes, where A Ramen serves its tick-box bowls about ten minutes’ walk from the station.
Cheap eats on Rama 9
The cheapest food at the junction is outside the mall, and most of it closes early. The Soi 3 chicken rice at 35 baht is the exception, running round the clock. GrabFood lists Pu Yen Ta Fo on Rama 9 Soi 26, a pink-broth noodle shop that has been open more than 30 years and serves from 09:00 to 20:00, and Yod Larb Ped Udon on Rama 9 Tat Mai Soi 49 in its lowest price tier. Somyong closes at 21:30 and does not open on Sundays.
Inside Central Rama 9, the cheap lunch is The Bibimbab on B1. The group behind it has cooked Korean food in Bangkok since 2010, and a bulgogi bibimbap is 270 baht before VAT, so two people can eat for well under a thousand. Kabocha’s cheapest bowls, yakiniku don at 243 baht and katsu don at 290, are the low end of the B floor. Jones’ Salad works when you want something light: Time Out puts the chain’s drinks from 99 baht. Late at night, A Ramen’s 160-baht custom bowl is the cheapest meal on this list, and the price includes VAT.
Cafes and good-looking rooms on Rama 9
The Barn is the Rama 9 cafe worth driving out for. Tom, a retired ice hockey player who grew up in Switzerland, opened it in 2022 with Patrick and Punn, two players he met on Bangkok rinks; the name is the Canadian slang for a hockey arena. Everything is baked in-house in small batches. The menu linked from the cafe’s site lists filled cookies such as salted butter caramel at 90 baht, a 48-hour fudgy brownie at 80, and focaccia sandwiches up to 140. The coffee is a Thai and Brazilian blend from Siriwat Selected Coffee in Chiang Rai, with an americano at 80. Cinnamon roll pre-orders close on Wednesday at 19:00 for collection from Friday to Tuesday, ordered through LINE. The cafe’s own site and Google list different opening hours, so check before you go.
Chillpainai’s Rama 9 round-up, first published in 2016, still points to three rooms worth the trip. Emmy’s on Rama 9 Soi 49 has an air-conditioned room and an outdoor area under large trees with a date palm in the middle, open daily from 09:00 to 20:00. One of a Kind on Soi 46, opposite The Nine, was a furniture shop and now fills the room with arcade machines and toys; it closes on Wednesdays. Bang Wan on Soi 49 is decorated in bright colours, and GrabFood recommends its honey toast and Japanese cheesecake. Inside Central Rama 9, On the Table on the 6th floor seats between 41 and 80 and serves wine and beer, which makes it a sensible pick for a long lunch in proper seats. For cafes elsewhere in the city, see cafes in Bangkok.
Late-night food on Rama 9
Rama 9 is an office district, and people here finish late. Haidilao is the anchor, open until 03:00, and its 4,400-plus Google reviews are the most of any restaurant in this guide. An August 2025 Wongnai reviewer found no queue on a weekday, and after 22:00 pickup orders are handed over at the G-floor car park by the Robinson-side door. If you want hot pot in Bangkok beyond this one room, see our hot pot Bangkok guide.
Away from the mall, GrabFood lists Bonchon Korean fried chicken in The Nine from 09:00 to 02:00, and Burger Bros on Soi 49 until midnight, 02:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. A Ramen has a second 24-hour branch on Rama 9 Soi 49 as well as the one at The Street. The MRT stops around midnight; after that, the front of Central Rama 9 is the easiest place to get a taxi, while Soi 49 and The Nine never had rail service in the first place. Bars cluster at RCA, Royal City Avenue, which is a different night out from this list. For food that comes with drinks, Ratchada to the north has more choice.
Rama 9 east: Soi 49, Pattanakarn and Pridi (bring a car)
Further east, Rama 9 Road meets Pattanakarn and the residential sois that run down to Pridi Banomyong Soi. Most of it is a drive from any station. GrabFood’s list for this end includes Lang Ram Miang Pla Pao on Soi 40, known for grilled fish wrapped in leaves with herbs and for its thick river-prawn tom yum, open 11:00 to 22:00. It also lists Rama 9 Kai Yang at 25/8 Hua Mak, serving black-pepper grilled chicken with som tam pu pla ra from morning until 20:30, and Hoshi Japanese at number 167. Kabocha Sushi has a second branch in HomePro Rama 9, the same brand as the one ranked above.
Near The Nine, GrabFood lists Ko Pi Hia Tai Kee in the Seri Market next door, an old-style Thai coffee shop with kaya toast from 07:00 to 20:00, and Brunello, an Italian restaurant on Soi 58 that only serves weekday dinners. Pridi Banomyong Soi links this zone to Ekkamai, covered in our Ekkamai restaurants guide. Asok-Din Daeng Road, which crosses Rama 9 Road at the junction, leads south to Asok restaurants.
Central Rama 9 in short
The mall has its own guide at Central Rama 9 restaurants, so this is the short version. On the B floor, Kabocha does sushi bowls and Jones’ Salad sits beside Matsumoto Kiyoshi. B1 has The Bibimbab and Hitori Shabu, where every seat gets its own pot, so eating alone is the norm. The 6th floor has On the Table, with Sushiro and Sizzler nearby according to GrabFood. On the 7th, Haidilao and Hua Seng Hong take the groups; Hua Seng Hong’s closing time is 22:00 on Google and Grab but 20:30 on Wongnai, so call 02-160-2484 before a late dinner. GrabFood also lists Mo-Mo-Paradise shabu on the 7th floor and Wuagyu flame-torched beef boat noodles in unit B41. Hungry Hub lists Oishi Eaterium’s Japanese buffet from 645 baht, and next door in G Tower, Fufu Shabu from 638; more of those are in buffets in Bangkok.
Getting there and parking
MRT Phra Ram 9 is the station for everything at the junction. Its underground walkway leads into the B floor of Central Rama 9, Fortune Town stands beside the station, and the street exits come up on Ratchadaphisek, for Soi 3 and Soi 5, and on Rama 9 Road. The Street Ratchada is one stop north at Thailand Cultural Centre. Central Rama 9 has its own car park, and Fortune Town and G Tower also take cars. For Soi 49, The Nine, The Barn and Pattanakarn, drive, take a taxi, or ride a motorbike taxi from the soi mouth.
