Bang Khae, on the Thonburi side where Phetkasem Road meets the outer ring road, is where people who live out west go to eat out without crossing the river. This page is for expats and families in west Bangkok, and for anyone riding the MRT Blue Line extension who wants to know where to get off. Bang Khae restaurants fall into three clusters: The Mall Bang Khae and Bang Khae Market on Phetkasem Road, the garden restaurants and late kitchens on Kanchanaphisek Road (the outer ring road), and the smaller sois in between. The 11 picks below are the places whose dishes, hours and locations could be confirmed from public sources, ranked by Google rating and review count, dish evidence and editorial judgement.

Prices fall into three bands. Bang Khae Market and the Phetkasem shophouses run 40 to 120 baht a plate. The mall restaurants and family places land around 160 to 500 baht a head, from a 160-baht ramen to a tonkatsu set. The two destination places, De Chote and Brewave, sit in Wongnai’s 251-to-500-baht band, more once drinks come into it. The MRT Blue Line runs right along Phetkasem with four useful stations, and Lak Song has a skywalk into the mall. Anything on Kanchanaphisek needs a car or a motorbike taxi.

How Bang Khae eats: Phetkasem Road, Kanchanaphisek and Kanlapaphruek

Phetkasem Road is the spine. The Mall Bang Khae sits at the Phetkasem–Kanchanaphisek junction, Seacon Bangkhae is further east towards Phasi Charoen, and Bang Khae Market is by the MRT station of the same name. De Chote is down Soi Phetkasem 88 and Third House Cafe up Soi Phetkasem 55, both short hops off the main road. If you have no car, this is the side of Bang Khae that works for you.

Kanchanaphisek is the drive-to side. Four of the eleven picks are here: Brewave, Garden Kitchen, Fisher Tiger and Khao Tom 4D, and three of them stay open later than the mall. Kanlapaphruek Road, the third axis, links Bang Khae to Ratchaphruek past Indy Market Kanlapaphruek, with mookata grills and cafés along the way. No Kanlapaphruek restaurant is ranked here; if you drive to the end of it, see restaurants on Ratchaphruek Road.

The Mall Bang Khae restaurants by floor, and Seacon Bangkhae

The first question about The Mall Bang Khae is usually which floor to head for. Signage and maps spell it Bangkhae or Bangkae; it is a different mall from The Mall Bangkapi on the other side of the city, which has its own page at The Mall Bangkapi restaurants. Since the renovation that finished in 2024 it trades as The Mall Lifestore, and the Mall Bangkhae restaurants worth sitting down for are mostly on floor 2, where the skywalk from MRT Lak Song comes in.

Three ranked places share that zone. At Kogoro Katsu, mix the pear sauce with the thicker 17-spice sauce, as THE STANDARD’s 2022 review suggested. A Ramen also sells cold yuzu saru ramen at 140 baht for anyone who doesn’t want hot broth. Yonny’s original broth is milder than the dried chillies floating on top suggest. Grab adds You&I Suki Buffet in the waterfall zone of the same floor from 498 baht and Fuji on floor 3.

Down on G, the food hall runs 10:00 to 20:00 and works on a cash card you buy at the entrance; Wongnai members point to Elvis Suki and Tong Peng duck on rice, at 105 baht a plate. Boon Tong Kee is in the same zone, and its 999-baht Luck & Love set feeds four. Grab also lists Saep Ee Lee for Isan behind the waterfall feature. Lao Yuan was on G in a 2022 TrueID article, written before the renovation, so check the mall directory for its current floor.

Seacon Bangkhae is the other mall, two stops east of Lak Song at MRT Phasi Charoen. Most Seacon Bangkhae restaurants are on floor 4 in the Street Gourmet zone, where Wongnai reviewers single out Siam India, a cheap Indian kitchen at the back, plus Kinza Gyoza and Bar B Q Plaza. Grab lists an Oishi buffet open until 22:00. Nearly all of them are chains.

Bang Khae Market and old Phetkasem shophouses

Bang Khae Market is for Bang Khae food at street prices, not for a long sit-down. It is a fresh market with cooked-food stalls that sell best from morning to lunch and again in the early evening, and most plates are 40 to 120 baht. Wongnai’s picks are Somporn’s pork satay at the front, open until 22:00, and Ah Gu’s tom yum ba chor noodles close by. Further out near Talat Kanlapaphruek, Mae Oraphan makes hor mok, hoi jor and fresh salapao daily. There is nowhere to park, so get off at MRT Bang Khae and walk. For the wider picture, see street food in Bangkok.

The older Phetkasem shophouses are in the same position. Grab lists Phoemphun Phochana at number 1603, a Chinese shop of more than 30 years selling braised pork leg, duck on rice and wonton noodles from 08:00 to 19:30. Heng Peng Sung, behind the 7-Eleven at the Nong Yai junction in Soi Bang Khae 7, grills pork neck for students and office workers on a budget.

Kanchanaphisek: garden tables, a brewpub and late khao tom

The ring road is where Bang Khae goes for a long dinner. Brewave’s brewery started when three cousins moved from homebrewing to a licence. Order by QR code at the table, come at lunch (11:00 to 14:00) for the khao kha moo, and message the Facebook page before bringing a big group on a Friday or Saturday night, when tables sit close together. Garden Kitchen, about 1.6 km north of the mall, is the one for mixed tastes: the menu runs from snakehead fish to a Japanese section, and Wongnai’s Bang Khae list adds chu chee fish curry and bitter melon with egg.

Fisher Tiger and Khao Tom 4D cover the two ends of the day. Fisher Tiger closes at 20:00, so it is a weekend lunch place; river prawns sell by weight, so call ahead for the price. Khao Tom 4D only gets going at 15:00. A reviewer reports that its outdoor side shares a bill with the moo kratha grill next door, with sets from 300 baht, and it is the one ring-road pick you can walk to from the MRT. Off the list, Wongnai sends people to Nai Uan’s beef noodles at the first U-turn under the bridge heading towards Rama 2, where the queue forms for braised beef soup.

Cafés, buffets and mookata

Third House Cafe is the early option, open at 07:30 and close enough to MRT Lak Song for a coffee before the ride into town. Reviewers note low ceilings and some low tables, and that upstairs seating was planned to open at weekends first. For a garden café, Ryoii lists LIFE CAFE’ in Soi Phetkasem 63, open weekends only with mains at 55 to 155 baht, and San Raphael on Bang Waek Road. Other neighbourhoods are covered in cafes in Bangkok.

For grills, Ryoii and TrueID both give Bar B Q Resort’s Bang Khae branch on Phetkasem at 320 baht a head with no time limit, 15:00 to midnight. Best Beef at 254/2 Phetkasem starts at 329 baht without drinks, and Jeju Yang Noei, a butter grill at Indy Market Kanlapaphruek, is 199. Those prices come from 2022 articles, so check before you go. Wongnai’s write-up of Vasana Mookata describes sets of about 700 g, 1 kg and 1.5 kg but gives neither prices nor a Bang Khae branch. See mookata Bangkok and buffets in Bangkok for the city-wide lists.

Getting there: MRT Blue Line stations and parking

The Blue Line extension runs above Phetkasem Road. From the east: Bang Wa connects with the BTS Silom Line; Phasi Charoen serves Seacon Bangkhae; Bang Khae serves the market; and Lak Song has the skywalk into The Mall Bang Khae. The four mall restaurants on the list, Khao Tom 4D and Third House Cafe all work from Lak Song. De Chote and the Kanchanaphisek places need a motorbike taxi or taxi, about 5 to 10 minutes.

If you want a table by the water, head towards Pinklao restaurants or the Chao Phraya river restaurants.

Quick answers

FAQ

7 questions
Where should I eat at The Mall Bang Khae, and which floor are the restaurants on?

Most sit-down restaurants are on floor 2, the level the skywalk from MRT Lak Song enters. Kogoro Katsu (unit 211), Yonny (unit 214) and A Ramen (units 239-240) share that zone, and Grab lists You&I Suki Buffet there from 498 baht. The G floor holds the food hall, Boon Tong Kee for chicken rice and, per Grab, Saep Ee Lee for Isan behind the waterfall feature. Grab places Fuji on floor 3.

What is Bang Khae Market good for, and what time should I go?

Bang Khae Market, near MRT Bang Khae on Phetkasem Road, is a fresh market with street food rather than sit-down restaurants. It sells best in the morning through lunch and again in the early evening, and most plates cost 40 to 120 baht. Wongnai points to Somporn's pork satay at the front, open to 22:00, and Ah Gu's tom yum ba chor noodles nearby. There is no parking, so take the MRT.

Which MRT station is closest to The Mall Bang Khae?

MRT Lak Song on the Blue Line extension. A covered skywalk runs from the station into floor 2 of The Mall Lifestore Bangkae, the same floor as A Ramen, Kogoro Katsu and Yonny, so you never step onto Phetkasem Road. From Lak Song, Khao Tom 4D is a 400 m walk along Kanchanaphisek, and Third House Cafe is a short motorbike taxi ride into Soi Phetkasem 55.

What is there to eat at Seacon Bangkhae?

Seacon Bangkhae keeps most of its restaurants on floor 4 in the Street Gourmet zone. Wongnai reviewers name Siam India, a low-priced Indian restaurant at the back of the zone, Kinza Gyoza and Bar B Q Plaza, and Grab lists an Oishi buffet open until 22:00. These are mostly chains with incomplete branch data, so none is ranked here. MRT Phasi Charoen is the station for Seacon.

Which Bang Khae restaurants have parking?

The Mall Bangkae and Seacon Bangkhae both have parking buildings. De Chote has its own lot on the right about 50 m before the café in Soi Phetkasem 88. Brewave has its own car park on Kanchanaphisek; for Garden Kitchen and Fisher Tiger, ask about parking when you call. Khao Tom 4D shares spaces with neighbouring shops that are hard to find later in the evening, and Third House Cafe fits one or two cars, so reviewers use the nearby Bangchak station.

Where can I eat late in Bang Khae?

Brewave, opposite The Mall Bangkae, is open until midnight. Khao Tom 4D on Kanchanaphisek opens at 15:00 and serves until 23:30, and Garden Kitchen closes at 23:00. Grab lists Tueng, a fish-head rice soup shop on Phetkasem, from 16:00 to 00:30. The mall restaurants finish earlier: Lao Yuan at 20:30, A Ramen around 20:45 on weeknights and Kogoro Katsu at 21:00.

Is Bang Khae worth the trip from central Bangkok for food?

Come for the places with their own space rather than the mall chains. Brewave's 12 taps and brewing tanks, De Chote's garden glasshouse and Garden Kitchen's 400-dish Thai menu are all a short taxi from MRT Lak Song at the end of the Blue Line ride. A Ramen and Kogoro Katsu, by contrast, both have branches in central Bangkok, so they alone are not a reason to make the trip.
