Ramkhamhaeng restaurants are built for the people who live, work and study in east Bangkok, and the menu prices show it. The road runs out from Hua Mak past Ramkhamhaeng University and Rajamangala National Stadium to the Lat Phrao Road junction at Bang Kapi. This guide ranks nine places along it whose dishes and prices can be checked against public sources: a late-night khao tom parlour, a crab house off Soi 24, a curry shop, the original branch of a xiao long bao chain, a pay-by-weight mookata spot, three restaurants on the third floor of The Mall Bangkapi, and Baan Tepa, with two Michelin stars in the 2026 guide. It is written for expats who live east of Rama 9 and for visitors coming out for a Baan Tepa booking or looking for restaurants near Rajamangala Stadium before a match or concert. Ranking weighs Google rating against review volume, dishes confirmed in public sources, and editorial judgement.

Most of the Ramkhamhaeng food on this list costs 100 to 300 baht a head: rice soup and stir-fries, dumplings, jungle curries, mookata by the kilo. Crab at Nueng Puma or sashimi at Sushi Seki takes a meal to 250 to 800. Baan Tepa sits on its own: its tasting menu was 6,200 baht a head in February 2025, with wine pairings from 2,900 to 7,500 on top. Getting here takes some planning, because no rail line runs the length of Ramkhamhaeng Road. The MRT Yellow Line stops at Bang Kapi beside The Mall and at Hua Mak on Srinakarin Road, where it meets the Airport Rail Link, and the Orange Line along Ramkhamhaeng is still being built. For the soi restaurants you take a taxi or motorbike taxi from the station, or drive: Kaeng Pa, Nueng Puma and Baan Tepa have their own parking.

How Ramkhamhaeng eats: Hua Mak, Soi 24 and the Bang Kapi end

Ramkhamhaeng Road is long enough that “let’s eat on Ram” needs a soi number, and each stretch eats differently. The low-numbered sois around Soi 14 and Soi 19/1 are old Hua Mak, shophouse restaurants that the neighbourhood returns to every week rather than places people cross the city for. Ting Tai Fu and Jae Nee are both here. The middle stretch, around Ramkhamhaeng University and the stadium, holds Baan Tepa on the main road and Soi 24, the student soi near the campus; for restaurants near Ramkhamhaeng University with a proper sit-down table, Soi 24 is the place to start. Khun Phat’s mookata is at the mouth of Soi 65, an address that falls in Wang Thonglang district rather than Bang Kapi.

At the Lat Phrao Road junction you reach Bang Kapi proper and The Mall Lifestore Bangkapi, where three of the nine are on one floor. Beyond the junction the road keeps going east towards Saphan Sung. Head west along Lat Phrao Road instead and you are into Lat Phrao restaurants, a short ride on the same Yellow Line.

Cheap Ramkhamhaeng restaurants in Hua Mak

The two Hua Mak restaurants on the list split the clock between them: Ting Tai Fu by day, Jae Nee by night. Jae Nee is also the clearest example of how cheaply the road still eats. A Wongnai reviewer in March 2025 paid 120 baht for moo tom buay, 150 for squid stir-fried with salted egg, 140 for prawns tossed with chilli and salt, and 70 for bitter-gourd shoots flash-fried over high heat, all eaten with 10-baht bowls of rice soup. Regulars also order tom yum with grouper, crispy gourami salad and garlic chives with tofu. There are 41 to 80 seats, split between an air-conditioned room and tables outside. To find it, look for the soi sign near the Hua Mak post office; the shop’s own directions put it about 30 metres in on the left. Parking by the door is scarce, so reviewers leave the car in the next soi. Google lists 16:30 to 03:00 and Wongnai 16:00 to 02:00, with an earlier close on Thursdays, so check before a late Thursday run.

Ting Tai Fu is the daytime counterpart, open 10:00 to 21:00 in a small room of 11 to 40 seats. Beyond the dumplings, Wongnai’s member favourites price prawns stir-fried with Maggi sauce at 205 baht, drunken chicken at 180, red-braised pork ribs at 210, lion’s-head meatballs at 65 and fried mantou at 95. Time Out notes that the plain noodles, 60 baht, are made to order bowl by bowl. Parking is on the street; one reviewer suggests the nearby sois or a petrol station forecourt.

Ramkhamhaeng Soi 24: crab, prawns and hot curries

Ramkhamhaeng Soi 24 restaurants suit a group that wants a proper table without a mall around it. At Kaeng Pa the jungle curry gets the attention, but the menu runs wider: river-snail curry at 191 baht, sand whiting fried with turmeric at 229, and, in a December 2025 review, southern kai kolae and a curry with pork bones at 150 each. Earlier reviewers ordered liang leaves stir-fried with egg and sour curry with cha-om and shrimp, and beef kaeng rawaeng and crab curry with betel leaves come up again and again. The room seats 81 to 150 and was recently renovated, by reviewers’ accounts. Wongnai lists 11:00 to 20:30, Google a 21:00 close; either way, this is an early dinner. For something sweet afterwards, Bualoy Parinya, a Thai dessert shop serving bua loy rice dumplings, is on Soi 24 Yaek 18, open 14:30 to 22:30 by Wongnai’s listing.

Nueng Puma stays open to 22:00 and suits a longer night. Wongnai ranks it 26th of nearly 10,000 seafood restaurants in Bangkok. The menu carries grilled tiger prawns at 850 baht, butter-baked scallops at 300, squid with salted egg at 285, prawns baked with glass noodles at 270 and baked mussels at 130, and reviewers add sea bass fried with fish sauce and crab meat stir-fried with bird’s-eye chilli. It fills at meal times and the car park in front is small. Because it sits on Thawon Thawat Road before the tunnel to Phatthanakan, it is also easy to reach from the Rama 9 restaurants side.

Baan Tepa: a two-Michelin-star Thai tasting menu on Ramkhamhaeng Road

Baan Tepa is the one restaurant on this road that international diners already know by name. Chef Chudaree “Tam” Debhakam cooks in her family’s former home at 561 Ramkhamhaeng Road, and the name joins baan, Thai for home, with Tepa from the family name. The Michelin Guide Thailand 2026 gives it two stars and a Green Star for sustainability. Michelin’s inspectors describe traditional curries and techniques reworked around local produce, herbs from the house’s own garden and kitchen scraps turned into seasonings. The restaurant’s site singles out Dong Dang, rice noodles made with a technique from Udon Thani, and Crab Crab Crab, which sets blue swimmer crab from Surat Thani beside black-crab miso from Sakon Nakhon.

Practicalities: dinner only, Wednesday to Sunday, closed Monday and Tuesday. The opening time differs by source: Michelin lists 17:00 to 23:00, while Google and En Primeur Club (hours as of August 2026) give 18:00 to 23:00, so confirm when you book. One seven-course menu; reservations required through baantepabkk.com or +66 98 696 9074. En Primeur Club advises booking early and planning the drive, since the house is far from the central hotel districts; Michelin lists a car park and card payment. To compare it with the rest of the city’s starred rooms, see Michelin restaurants in Bangkok and fine dining in Bangkok.

Further east, the Michelin Guide’s site also lists Maan Muang, a northern Thai kitchen at Soi Ramkhamhaeng 112 in Saphan Sung, tagged as an inspectors’ favourite, and describes its soup of bamboo shoots and crab paste with pork ribs. It is not ranked here because its current prices could not be confirmed.

Ramkhamhaeng mookata and solo yakiniku

The two grill options on the list work in opposite ways. Khun Phat is a group meal: you choose marinated pork, pork belly, seafood or shellfish at the counter, it is weighed by the 100 grams, and you cook it on the dome-and-moat pan at your table. Groups of four should start with the kilo set and weigh more as they go. Wongnai lists opening at 15:30 and dine-in ending at 21:00, while Google shows 16:00 to midnight, so plan on arriving before 20:00. More pans across the city are in mookata in Bangkok.

Yakiniku Like is for eating alone. Each seat has its own grill and four sauces: Original BBQ Like, garlic shoyu, spicy miso and salt. At the Thai launch in 2021, The Standard listed the prime karubi and Kurobuta pork set at 269 baht and the LIKE Set of karubi, harami and beef tongue at 339; check the current menu before you count on those. It closes at 20:00 Monday to Thursday and runs later from Friday to Sunday.

The Mall Bangkapi, third floor

In Bang Kapi itself, the sit-down restaurants cluster in the Dining Garden zone on the third floor of The Mall Lifestore Bangkapi. Sushi Seki’s branch picks, according to Naew Na’s January 2024 piece on the zone, are the Hokkaido Over Roll, grilled shime saba, shirauo salad and nagashi fresh udon. At Boon Tong Kee, Room 331.2, order the fried tofu or long beans stir-fried with minced pork alongside the chicken. Its listings disagree: Google (October 2026) shows 10:00 to 21:00, and to 22:00 Friday to Sunday, but the Wongnai branch page lists only Monday, 10:30 to 20:00, and flags the shop as possibly closed, so call 080-991-2777 before you go. The floor also has Kofuku for salmon rice bowls around 200 baht, Onkijung for Korean rice bowls, PONN for northern khao soi, Malakor for Isan and LT Fish for Sichuan fish pots. The full floor-by-floor list is in The Mall Bangkapi restaurants, and more sushi across town in Japanese restaurants in Bangkok.

For The Mall Bangkapi, take the MRT Yellow Line to Bang Kapi. For anything on the lower road, the nearest rail is Hua Mak on Srinakarin Road, where the Yellow Line meets the Airport Rail Link, which also makes it the simplest approach from Makkasan or the airport; from there it is a taxi to the soi. Drivers have it easier at Kaeng Pa, with parking beside the shop, and at Baan Tepa, with its own car park. Nueng Puma’s lot is small, Ting Tai Fu has street parking only, and Jae Nee is the hardest of all.

Mind the closing times. Kaeng Pa closes at 20:30 by Wongnai’s listing, Yakiniku Like closes at 20:00 on weekdays and Khun Phat stops seating at 21:00. For a late meal, Nueng Puma runs to 22:00 and Jae Nee into the small hours. North of Bang Kapi, the next area guide is Kaset-Nawamin restaurants; west, the Ratchada and Rama 9 restaurants are a taxi ride away.
