Ari Restaurants: 9 Places to Eat and Drink Around BTS Ari
Ari restaurants ranked with prices: khao soi on Phahon Yothin 7, Hat Yai dim sum on Soi Ari 2, a churrasco izakaya, garden cafes, parking, BTS walk times.
Ari is the neighbourhood Bangkok itself eats in, a Thai residential district first and an expat favourite second. It sits around BTS Ari, two stops north of Victory Monument, built along Soi Phahon Yothin 7, which everyone calls Soi Ari, and the numbered side sois 1 to 5 that run off it. Within ten minutes of the station you can eat a bowl of khao soi that once carried a Bib Gourmand, Hat Yai dim sum picked from a glass case, Brazilian churrasco sliced at an izakaya table, and coffee in a garden that foreign food writers keep covering. This list has nine places with menus and prices confirmed in public sources, ranked from Google rating and review volume, documented dishes and editorial judgement.
Budget in three bands. Noodles, khao soi or dim sum from the case: 60 to 150 baht. A sit-down meal or a cafe with real food such as Poet House or Lucky’s Hungry: 150 to 400 baht a head. Dinner with drinks at Sasori Chu or a long Lay Lao table: 500 to 1,500 baht. Getting here is simple. BTS Ari (N5) exit 3 lands at the mouth of Soi Ari; Soi Ari 1 is three minutes’ walk, Soi Ari 5 about ten. For the Pradipat side across the main road use BTS Saphan Khwai. Drivers should know that almost no restaurant in the sois has parking; the four public car parks are listed in the last section.

What Ari is and why expats eat here
Ari is a residential district of old houses and low shophouses that turned into a cafe neighbourhood without turning into a tourist one. Time Out has covered it in English and in Thai, and its 2026 Thai round-up shows how the mix still works: a khao soi shop and a cooperative car park sit a few doors from a specialty roaster, and the noodle and crab-noodle shops at the mouth of Soi Ari 1 are still there. For expats the draw is practical. BTS Ari is on the Sukhumvit line that runs straight to Siam, the sois are walkable and shaded, and the dinner budgets on this list run 500 to 1,500 baht a head with drinks.
Three zones matter. The first is the top of Soi Ari nearest the station, where the older restaurants are: Lay Lao and Ongtong Khao Soi on Phahon Yothin 7 itself, and the Sanan Napha building at the mouth of Soi Ari 1, which Grab lists as home to a crab-noodle shop and a beef-noodle shop. The second is Soi Ari 2 to 5, the cafe and new-restaurant zone where everything else on this list sits, plus the small GUMP’s Ari compound on Soi Ari 4 north side that Time Out’s 2026 Thai round-up says now holds Mad Pizza, Everest & Co. and Junice Smoothie. The third is Ari Samphan, the parallel soi further north and further from the station, with O’ganic Concept, the wagyu restaurant Wagyuism that Time Out places on Ari Samphan 5, and the Isan kitchen Khao Niao on Ari Samphan 7 per Grab.
Best restaurants in Ari for dinner
Dinner in Ari splits between the two old reliables and the one place built for a night out. Lay Lao is where the neighbourhood takes a group: a big Thai-Isan room on Phahon Yothin 7 with Hua Hin seafood, open until 22:00, squid with roe and grilled dried mussels on skewers as the dishes a 2019 Michelin feature singled out, and prices a Wongnai reviewer recorded in the low hundreds plus service. Kopihub Prime on Soi Ari 2 runs until 21:00 and works as dinner if you order the smoked duck breast at 259 baht or the Prime Pork Platter at 569 rather than the breakfast dim sum; it is also the only restaurant here with its own car park and a private room.
Sasori Chu is the night-out answer. It is a two-storey house on Soi Ari where Brazilian picanha and tenderloin turn on a rotating charcoal spit and the staff slice the skewer at your table, served with Japanese-style small plates such as grilled chicken hearts and pork belly with green-apple sauce. The Standard put the budget at 300 to 2,000 baht a head depending on how much meat you order; the Picanha Pepper at 990 baht feeds two. The Standard lists it open 18:00 to midnight, Tuesday to Sunday; those are 2022 hours, so check before a late visit. For an early, lighter dinner, Poet House on Soi Ari 5 does its home-recipe pasta until 20:00 in a renovated house with a glass room onto the garden. For an occasion dinner beyond the neighbourhood, see our best restaurants in Bangkok guide.
Ari cafes and brunch (the short version)
Cafes are the neighbourhood’s main event, and three are ranked here because they serve real food or publish menus with prices. Nana Coffee Roasters at 24/2 Soi Ari 4 is the garden cafe of the roaster that foreign food writers cover most, with a branch-only drink called Ari Soi 4, burnt coconut water topped with espresso at 180 baht, and weekday opening at 07:00. Poet House on Soi Ari 5 is the house to work in, with a shrimp spaghetti adapted from the family’s salt-and-pepper pork belly recipe. Porcupine at 48 Soi Ari 4 north side is the old-timer with cakes from its own oven.
For brunch proper, Lucky’s Hungry at 9/1 Soi Ari 3 serves American fried rice, the Thai ketchup-fried rice under a fried egg, a whole fried chicken leg, thick ham and sausage, 229 baht for the classic plate in 2024. Its hours are the one thing to check first: Time Out (April 2025) gives 08:00 to 22:00 daily, but Google (October 2026) shows sessions from 11:00 and no Thursday hours, so call before planning breakfast there. Kopihub Prime opens at 07:00 at weekends for dim sum and traditional kopi at 35 baht. Beyond the list, Grab’s cafe round-up names Eggtisan by Common Room on Phahon Yothin 5 for eggs Benedict and truffle scrambled eggs, OIKOS in Vanit Village on Soi Ari 1 for Japanese pancakes, and Bar Storia del Caffè on Soi Ari 4 north side for all-day breakfast until 23:00. Bay.aree at the mouth of Soi Ari 3 is the dark, bar-like cafe with coffee cocktails. The full cafe picture, with walk times and parking for every shop, is in our guide to Ari cafes, and the city-wide sets are in cafes in Bangkok and brunch in Bangkok.
Thai food in Ari: Soi Ari 1 and the side sois
Ongtong Khao Soi is the Thai dish Ari is known for. It is a small northern Thai shophouse at 31 Phahon Yothin 7, next to Wandee Cafe, and Time Out recorded chicken khao soi at 69 baht and the dry-fried version with a choice of chicken, pork, beef or sai ua sausage at 79; a 2019 MICHELIN Guide article says it then held a Bib Gourmand and recommends the stewed chicken-leg bowl and the pu ong field-crab dip; the current Michelin listing shows no award. Prices have moved since, but a solo lunch still comes in under 200 baht. Lay Lao, at number 65 on the same soi, is the Isan option, and O’ganic Concept on Ari Samphan 1 is the health-food one, with IFOAM-standard produce and a kale superfood salad as the lead dish.
The side sois hold the rest, each named here with its source. Grab’s Thai-food list names Baan Puengchom at 38 Phahon Yothin 7, a lunch-only Thai house closed Sundays that Time Out calls a long-standing family favourite; Paknang on the same soi for southern Thai curries; Zaab Eli at number 4 for Isan; and Krua Mae Panya on Soi Ari 2, a weekday-only order-to-cook kitchen. Time Out adds Phed Phed on Phahon Yothin 8 with more than twenty som tam varieties and a pickled-crab cucumber salad at 55 baht, and Thani Khao Mudaeng for crispy and stewed pork over rice. The Sanan Napha building at the mouth of Soi Ari 1 houses Nai Meng crab noodles and the Wat Dong Mun Lek beef-noodle shop, both under 150 baht a bowl per Grab.
Ari bars and late-night eats
The neighbourhood’s drinking is low-key rather than loud. Sasori Chu is the ranked answer: a bar facing the kitchen downstairs, floor seating upstairs, and meat that justifies the second bottle. Lay Lao is the beer-and-larb table until 22:00. Porcupine, filed by Google as both cafe and bar, has spirits and cocktails on the list per Wanderlog reviewers, though Google currently shows it closing at 19:00. Bay.aree runs coffee cocktails such as the Coff Mimosa at 280 baht in a room that looks like a bar from the street.
For late food, Grab’s data gives the clearest picture. Lao Lao, a Thai-Chinese restaurant at 1271 Phahon Yothin near the mouth of Soi 7, runs 15:00 to 03:00 with char siu, herbal stewed chicken and frog soup. Kenny’s BKK on Phahon Yothin 5 sells American pizza until 03:00. Time Out lists Frank Mansion, a bar in the A-One Ari building on Soi Ari 1, Monday to Saturday 18:00 to 01:00. Shopee’s cafe guide adds Oh Vacoda on Ari Samphan 4, an avocado dessert cafe that stays open until 01:00. The BTS stops around midnight, so plan on a taxi after that.
Cheap eats in Ari under 150 THB
Ari still feeds you for less than the price of a latte on Soi Ari 4. Dim sum at Kopihub Prime is 25 to 30 baht a piece from the display case, grilled pa tong ko 50, Phuket dry congee 69 and traditional coffee 35, so two people can eat for under 300 if they skip the branch-only specials. Ongtong’s khao soi is the other anchor, and coffee at Coffee no.9 on Soi Ari 1 or the 1:2 Coffee branch at the top of the soi starts at about 55 baht.
Beyond the list, the under-150 options are the noodle and rice shops Grab catalogues: Nai Meng crab noodles with giant shrimp wontons and the Wat Dong Mun Lek beef noodles in the Sanan Napha building on Soi Ari 1, the charcoal-broth noodle shop Onsen at Ari Hill on Phahon Yothin, Phan Zen 1000 noodles, and the weekday order-to-cook kitchen Krua Mae Panya on Soi Ari 2. Phed Phed’s 55-baht som tam on Phahon Yothin 8 is the cheapest dish Time Out priced in the neighbourhood. They sit outside the ranked list, which covers places with fuller published menus, but they are the everyday lunch end of the neighbourhood. The city-wide picture is in street food in Bangkok.
Getting there and walking times from BTS Ari
BTS Ari (N5) is on the Sukhumvit line, two stops north of Victory Monument, between Sanam Pao (N4) to the south and Saphan Khwai (N7) to the north. Exit 3 puts you at the mouth of Soi Phahon Yothin 7; exit 1 is across the road by La Villa Ari, the small mall at the station with Jones’ Salad on the first floor per Grab. From the soi mouth: Soi Ari 1 three minutes, Soi Ari 2 and 3 five minutes, Soi Ari 4 and 5 eight to ten minutes, Ari Samphan 10 to 15 minutes or a motorbike taxi from the corner. Phahon Yothin Road itself has the Ari Hill and Pearl Bangkok towers, and the Pradipat side, the older half of the neighbourhood, is better reached from BTS Saphan Khwai (N7), one stop north. Further up the line, see Chatuchak restaurants, Central Ladprao restaurants and Lat Phrao restaurants, and for the other end of the line, Sukhumvit restaurants.
Parking is the neighbourhood’s weak point and The Standard mapped it in May 2024. The Sahakorn Phra Nakhon car park on Soi Ari 1 is open 24 hours, first 15 minutes free then 20 baht an hour, and serves Lay Lao, Ongtong, Lucky’s Hungry and Coffee no.9. Laan Rot@Ari, between Soi Ari 4 and 5 on the north side, is open 06:00 to midnight at about 30 to 35 baht an hour with no overnight parking, and serves Nana, Porcupine and Poet House. The Ari Doi Street car park on Soi Ari 4 north side charges 30 baht an hour, and the Pearl Bangkok building on Phahon Yothin gives 30 minutes free then 50 baht an hour, useful for Kopihub Prime when its own lot is full. Street parking in the sois is banned 06:00 to 09:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 and follows an odd-even day rule, so the car parks are the realistic option on a weekend.
