Ari Cafes: 8 Coffee Shops and Garden Cafes on Soi Ari 1 to 5
Ari cafes near BTS Ari: a garden roaster, a house to work in, Hat Yai kopi at 35 baht, coffee cocktails and 55-baht takeaway, with walk times and parking.
Ari cafes are the reason most people outside the neighbourhood know its name. Within ten minutes’ walk of BTS Ari you can drink coffee in a garden on Soi Ari 4, work through an afternoon in a converted family house on Soi Ari 5, order Hat Yai kopi for 35 baht, or have espresso with tonic and elderflower in a room that looks like a bar from the street. This guide ranks eight of them, the ones whose menus and hours are confirmed by public sources, ordered by Google rating and review volume, verified menus and editorial judgement. It is written for people who live in Bangkok or are staying a while and want to pick the right Ari cafe for the day they have planned.
Ari coffee prices cover a wide range. Kopihub Prime’s kopi is 35 baht hot and 50 iced, and Coffee no.9 and 1:2 Coffee start at about 55. A milk coffee where you sit down is around 130 baht, which is what Nana charges for an iced latte, and signature drinks run to 180 at Nana and 280 at Bay.aree. Cakes are mostly 120 to 220 baht. To get there, take exit 3 at BTS Ari (N5), which comes down at the mouth of Soi Phahon Yothin 7, the street everyone calls Soi Ari. Every cafe here is 1 to 10 minutes’ walk from that corner. Only Kopihub Prime has its own parking; the public car parks for the rest are in the parking section below.

Ari cafes in 2026: where they are and when they close
The cafe district is compact. Soi Phahon Yothin 7 runs in from the BTS and the numbered side sois, Ari 1 to 5, branch off it. Soi Ari 4 has a north side and a south side, and the north side is where Porcupine, the GUMP’s Ari compound and the Laan Rot@Ari car park are. Grab’s round-up lists 30 cafes across these sois and Wongnai’s lists 15, so this page is a selection rather than a census.
New places keep opening in small compounds. Time Out’s Thai-language Ari round-up for 2026 names Matcha People, a matcha cafe run with the bakery Drop by Dough and open 08:00 to 17:00; Everest & Co. and Junice Smoothie inside GUMP’s Ari; and Donut Disturb, a bomboloni shop open 10:00 to 18:00. Vanit Village on Soi Ari 1 is the other compound to look at. None of these has published prices yet, so they are not ranked.
Plan around closing times, because Ari’s cafes keep office hours. Coffee no.9 shuts at 16:00 every day and 1:2 Coffee at 16:00 on weekdays. Nana closes at 18:00, Porcupine at 19:00 and Poet House at 20:00. Bay.aree is the exception: Google shows it open until midnight, while The Standard’s 2022 write-up listed 10:00 to 18:00, so check its page before an evening visit. Outside the list, Grab gives Bar Storia del Caffè on Phahon Yothin 7 until 23:00, and Shopee’s guide has Oh Vacoda on Ari Samphan 4 until 01:00. If you want dinner after the cafes shut, our Ari restaurants guide covers the evening.
Ari cafes for working: plugs, Wi-Fi and long stays
Poet House Cafe is the one built for this. When it opened in 2019 its owners told Sanook they wanted a place for people to work, read and talk about art, the way you would at a friend’s house. The glass room at the back opens onto the garden, there is a long sofa and a counter bar in the middle, and because the kitchen does pasta you do not have to move when you get hungry. It is also the latest-closing quiet cafe on the list.
Porcupine is the second choice if you need silence more than space. It is a small room with little decoration that Time Out’s Thai edition calls the porcupine nest, and it is quiet enough for a book. Nana has the most seats on this list, including tables inside its glass pavilion, but its garden seats go early on weekend mornings, so treat it as a weekday-morning office. Coffee no.9 and 1:2 Coffee are takeaway counters with a handful of seats, and Bay.aree is dark with music playing; none of the three suits a laptop. Grab also lists Ease Cafe & Co-Working, a house cafe off the main soi open until 21:00, with no published prices. None of the published sources records sockets or Wi-Fi for these cafes, so ask at the counter before you unpack.
Coffee in Ari: specialty roasters and Hat Yai kopi
If you came to Ari for the coffee rather than the room, three shops on the list take the beans seriously. Nana is a working roaster and its signature list goes beyond the Ari Soi 4: The Standard recorded an Afternoon Tea Light at 180 baht and the Signature Kanda at 250. Bay.aree blends Thai and imported beans into six house blends, Dusk Till Dawn, Better Than, Blend No.5, Bully, the dark-roast Broken and the Bay Blend Brew aged in a rum barrel, with single origins alongside. Coffee no.9 puts its effort into a short menu of house lattes at takeaway prices.
Kopihub Prime is a different tradition. Kopi is the traditional coffee of Hat Yai, drunk with dim sum from the case and grilled pa tong ko, and Wongnai reviewers single out the pa tong ko with sangkhaya custard. Come for breakfast with a group rather than a pour-over.
Beyond these eight, Grab and Wongnai agree on a few more specialty Ari coffee shops. Roots at Ari on Phahon Yothin 7 roasts its own beans and sells a Berry Blossom Cold Brew. Aribica, in the Sahakorn Phra Nakhon 2 building on Soi Ari 1, runs a slow bar with five brew methods at 50 to 150 baht according to Shopee. La Cabra, the Danish roaster, opened its second Thai branch in Vanit Village, and some time blue café on Phahon Yothin Soi 2 belongs to a 2016 Brewers Cup champion, per Asia City. For roasters elsewhere in the city, see the best cafes in Bangkok.
Garden and photo-friendly cafes in Ari
Nana’s garden is the picture people come for: big shade trees, a glass pavilion and wooden tables, which is why Singapore’s Eatbook and Daniel Food Diary both wrote the branch up. Poet House gives a quieter version indoors. The owners kept the house’s original structure and had new wooden and steel windows made to fit it. Bay.aree is the counterweight to all the white cafes, styled as a dark industrial loft.
Kopihub Prime has a basement “secret room” that The Standard picks as its photo spot, though Wongnai reviewers warn that a full house makes it hard to get a clear frame. Outside the list, Shopee and Grab point to Thong Yoi, a Thai dessert cafe decorated with flowers (the two sources disagree on whether it is on Ari Samphan 7 or Soi Ari 4 north side), and Trust Cafe and Studio on Soi King Chamnan Aksorn, styled like a Korean playground cafe. If you are bringing a dog, Time Out lists Dog in Town Ari at 11/4 Phahon Yothin 7, a cafe with resident dogs. None of the eight publishes a pet policy, so call before bringing a dog to a garden cafe such as Nana.
Cake and dessert cafes in Ari
Bay.aree has the clearest prices: New York cheese tart, salted caramel chocolate tart and carrot cake at 160 baht each, in the middle of the 120 to 220 baht that most cakes in Ari cost. Porcupine bakes in-house and reviewers mention the red velvet and the carrot cake. At Nana, Wongnai reviewers name the strawberry swirl cheesecake as their favourite, and Poet House’s carrot cake with a strong Thai tea is the pairing its reviewers recommend.
The dessert shops beyond this list are worth a detour. Grab lists FRANK cake bar on Soi Ari 1, Guss Damn Good craft ice cream on Phahon Yothin open until 23:00, and Kenn’s Ari on Soi Ari 2 for butter croissants. Wongnai adds DARQ, a chocolate bar working with Thai cacao, and Donut Disturb, the sister brand of Drop by Dough. For Thai sweets, Grab lists Baan Nam Dok Mai in the White Cloud Ari compound on Soi Ari 5, though its menu has not been published.
Ari cafes with parking
Drivers have one easy option. Kopihub Prime on Soi Ari 2 is the only cafe here with its own car park; Wongnai reviewers say it is easy on a weekday evening and full early on weekend mornings. Everyone else depends on the public car parks that The Standard mapped in May 2024.
The Sahakorn Phra Nakhon car park on Soi Ari 1 is open 24 hours, free for 15 minutes and then 20 baht an hour, and is the one for Coffee no.9, 1:2 Coffee and Lucky’s. Laan Rot@Ari between Soi Ari 4 and 5 north side is open 06:00 to midnight at about 30 to 35 baht an hour, with no overnight parking, and serves Nana, Porcupine, Poet House and Bay.aree. The Ari Doi Street car park on Soi Ari 4 north side charges 30 baht an hour, and the Pearl Bangkok building on Phahon Yothin Road gives the first 30 minutes free and then 50 baht an hour, a fallback when Kopihub’s lot is full. Street parking inside the sois is banned from 06:00 to 09:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 and follows an odd-even day rule, so park once and walk.
Saphan Khwai and Pradipat cafes, one stop north
Saphan Khwai often gets grouped with Ari. The Saphan Khwai and Pradipat side sits across Phahon Yothin Road and is closer to BTS Saphan Khwai (N7), the next station north. The places Shopee and Grab file under it are Laze, a raw-concrete loft cafe on Sutthisan Winitchai Road with a rooftop corner, at 70 to 150 baht; Bonci, a Korean-style croissant shop built in a former car park on Phahon Yothin, at 100 to 180 baht; and Beaker and Bitter on Soi Sailom 1, which serves coffee in lab beakers at 65 to 155 baht. They are not ranked here, but they are one BTS stop away if the Soi Ari cafes are full.
Getting to Ari’s cafes from BTS Ari
BTS Ari (N5) is on the Sukhumvit line. Use exit 3, which lands at the mouth of Soi Phahon Yothin 7. From there, 1:2 Coffee at number 27 is the first cafe you pass. Coffee no.9 on Soi Ari 1 is about three minutes in. Kopihub Prime on Soi Ari 2 and Bay.aree and Lucky’s on Soi Ari 3 are about five minutes. Nana and Porcupine on Soi Ari 4 and Poet House on Soi Ari 5 are eight to ten minutes, around 500 metres according to Trvlogue.
For an Ari brunch, Lucky’s on Soi Ari 3 has a breakfast menu next to the oversized American fried rice plates Time Out describes; its hours differ between Google, Time Out and Grab, so call first. For a full day in the area, pair the cafes with lunch from Ari restaurants or a weekend morning from brunch in Bangkok. Two stops north on the BTS, Chatuchak restaurants covers the market side, and for the other big cafe neighbourhood, across town on Sukhumvit, see Thonglor cafes.
