Chatuchak Market Food: 10 Places to Eat, Sorted by Section and Gate
Chatuchak market food by section and gate: 35-baht meatballs, crab noodles, air-conditioned Thai rooms, Friday night eats and Or Tor Kor across the road.
Chatuchak market food is spread across the market’s numbered sections rather than gathered into one food court, which is why so many first-timers end up eating whatever is closest when the heat gets to them. This guide is for residents and visitors heading to Chatuchak Weekend Market in 2026 who would rather plan lunch than stumble into it. It lists 10 places whose location and dishes are documented in public sources, each pinned to its section, soi or gate, plus Or Tor Kor, the fresh-food market across the road. Ranking comes from Google rating and review volume, dishes confirmed by reviews or menus, and editorial judgement. For restaurants in the wider district, outside the market fence, see Chatuchak restaurants.
Grazing here is cheap. Chin Pan Sod’s pork meatballs start at 35 baht for seven, Time Out lists coconut ice cream at Coco JJ from 60 baht and a bowl of pork noodles at Rattanakosin Boat Noodles for 60, and most plates at Jad Jan come in under 100. At 168 Thai Restaurant, Time Out prices pad thai and green curry at 168 baht, and a full meal there runs about 170 to 400 baht a head. Over at Or Tor Kor, a crab noodle bowl is 100 or 200 baht. Three stations serve the market. MRT Kamphaeng Phet exit 2 comes up on the Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road edge, the side with most of the sit-down rooms. BTS Mo Chit exit 1 leads straight in from the Phahonyothin side. MRT Chatuchak Park exit 1 means a short walk through the park. The full market trades on Saturday and Sunday.

Where the food is at Chatuchak Weekend Market
Wongnai’s guide to the market marks a zone for food, dried goods and processed food, much of it local produce to take home. Proper meals are scattered, and the section and soi number is the only reliable way to find them. The lanes look alike after an hour, so screenshot the address before you set off.
Most of the sit-down food in this list is on the Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road side, in Sections 2 to 4. Section 3 holds the two dining rooms ranked here, 168 Thai Restaurant on lane 46/1 and AT345 by Yorwor on Soi 45, and Time Out adds A Pink Rabbit and Bob Cafe on lane 45/1, where the Rabbit dirty coffee is 125 baht. Section 4 has Jad Jan by Gate 23 and Sicha, whose original Thai tea is 90 baht. Brio Bistro and Bar, on Section 2 lane 40/3, sells coffee from 80 baht in the daytime and a Bangkok Glory cocktail for 280.
Further in, Section 8 is where Viva 8 serves paella on the main drag, 160 baht by Time Out’s count, and where Miruku sells a pure-milk shake for 65. Section 12 has two reasons to walk that far: a Muslim food stall on lane 2 with nasi padang from 50 baht and biryani at 50, and Onewin Crab Noodles on Soi 21/1. Coco JJ’s coconut ice cream is on Section 1 lane 36. Mae Sumontha’s honey pork is in Section 22 on the Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road side, best picked up on the way in or out.
Chatuchak market food under 100 baht
Chatuchak weekend market food is cheapest when you graze, and a day of snacks can come in well under 300 baht. Start on the Phahonyothin pavement at Chin Pan Sod, where the meatballs are shaped by hand at the stall and you get two sauces, a seafood dip and a tamarind jaew. Wongnai regulars mix them together. Eleven balls for 50 baht is enough to share while walking, and the half-kilo bag at 110 baht is the one to take home.
Rattanakosin Boat Noodles, signposted as Zone A 48, sells sen lek moo for 60 baht. Bangkok Seven’s write-up says the bowl comes with a large pork ball and a side of crispy pork rind, and that the crowd comes and goes in waves: if every stool is taken, browse the jewellery stalls around it and try again. At Jad Jan, the Wongnai menu has fried wings at 75 baht, grilled pork neck at 85 and salted-egg papaya salad at 70, and reviewers recommend the plain Thai-style som tam over the crab version. Funliday’s guide warns that the default heat is full Isan strength.
For something sweet, Time Out lists Celin’s mango and sticky rice ice cream in Section 5 at 90 baht. Mae Sumontha’s honey pork is priced by weight and has crept up over the years, so ask before they cut. For the city’s wider stall trade, see our guide to street food in Bangkok.
Air-conditioned places to eat inside Chatuchak market
On a hot afternoon the covered lanes hold the heat, and seats with air-conditioning are scarce. Of the Chatuchak market restaurants in this list, AT345 by Yorwor has a proper air-conditioned dining room inside the fence. A Post Today profile describes a loft with bossa nova playing, roselle juice served in tall bamboo tubes and mango sticky rice made with nam dok mai mangoes. It takes bookings on 086-967-0617, which is worth doing for a group on a Saturday.
Onewin Crab Noodles has an enclosed air-conditioned room separate from its scant main seating, plus an overflow area across the aisle; Bangkok Seven notes how quickly the staff run plates out. Jad Jan has an air-conditioned area too, though you still queue for it. 168 Thai Restaurant has proper tables, but its listings do not mention air-conditioning, and Funliday says the room is often full, so arrive before noon or after the lunch rush.
Chatuchak night market food on Friday
Friday is where the sources disagree most, so treat any “Chatuchak night market” plan as provisional. Time Out lists the market as open from 18:00 to midnight on Friday. Wongnai gives 08:00 to 21:00 for the ceramics and clothing zones only. The am2026thailand tourism page says just that some zones open on Friday afternoon. Check the market’s own channels, or the stall you are going for, on the day.
Four places in this list do have Friday hours on Google. Chin Pan Sod starts at 15:00 and runs to 20:00. Mae Sumontha opens at 07:00 and shuts at 17:00, so it suits an early visit rather than an evening one. Google lists Yum Jae Ueng from noon to 20:00, though its Wongnai listing shows weekends only, and a reviewer found Friday quieter than Sunday. Onewin Crab Noodles stays open until 22:30, the latest of any of them. If you arrive after the lanes have closed, cross Phahonyothin Road to Kor Phror Kaphrao on Soi 18/1, which Google lists until 23:30 every night.
Or Tor Kor Market: the fresh-food market across the road
Or Tor Kor market sits across Kamphaeng Phet Road from the weekend market, and World of Street Food points visitors to MRT Kamphaeng Phet exit 3 for it. It is an agricultural produce market first, and Table Journey calls its food court the cleanest in the city. The dishes it singles out are som tam, grilled chicken and curry plates.
Two stalls have firm details. The crab noodle counter in the food court sells a 100-baht bowl with crab, fish balls, roast pork and wontons, and a 200-baht bowl with lump crab and giant prawn wontons. Sudjai Kai Yang Som Tam, in the Or Tor Kor car park, gets five stars from Time Out, which credits the som tam to Thailand’s first som tam champion and lists hours of 08:00 to 18:30, Tuesday to Sunday. Because the market trades through the week, Or Tor Kor market food is the better bet on a weekday when the weekend market’s lanes are shuttered.
Coffee breaks: Mixt Chatuchak, JJ Mall and LARDER
The air-conditioned malls on Kamphaeng Phet 3 Road, Mixt Chatuchak and JJ Mall next to it, are where shoppers go to cool off. In Mixt, Kaarom Specialty Coffee is on the ground floor in Zone B: Wongnai reviewers say to enter at the front and keep walking to the end. Thai milk tea is 95 baht, staff will talk you through the beans, and there are enough power sockets for an hour on a laptop. Parking is inside the building.
LARDER is across the road from Or Tor Kor, on the ground floor of the Best Western Chatuchak, about three minutes from MRT Kamphaeng Phet. It opens at 07:00, so it is a breakfast before the market rather than a break during it. Wongnai reviews give an iced americano at 120 baht and a Vienna schnitzel at 290, and Sunday mornings are crowded, though tables turn over quickly. More coffee stops around the city are in our cafes in Bangkok guide.
Opening days, hours and which gate to use
Saturday and Sunday are the market days, but published hours vary: am2026thailand gives 09:00 to 18:00, Time Out 10:00 to 18:00 and Wongnai 08:00 to 21:00. On Wednesday and Thursday only the plant market opens, 05:00 to 18:00 according to Wongnai. Most of the places ranked here trade at weekends only, a few from Friday. The exceptions are Onewin Crab Noodles, which Google shows open on several weekdays, and Kaarom, LARDER and Kor Phror Kaphrao, which sit outside the market and open daily.
Choose your station by what you want to eat first. MRT Kamphaeng Phet exit 2 puts you closest to Yum Jae Ueng, Jad Jan at Gate 23 and the Section 3 restaurants. BTS Mo Chit exit 1 brings you in by Chin Pan Sod on the Phahonyothin side. MRT Chatuchak Park exit 1 crosses the park first, and Mixt is about five minutes on foot from either Mo Chit or Chatuchak Park. Drivers can use the market car park or Chatuchak Park across the road, and the tourism page lists buses 3, 26, 96, 104, 122, 134, 136, 145, 157 and 509. One MRT stop north of Chatuchak Park, Phahon Yothin station connects to Central Ladprao restaurants, and BTS Ari, two stops down from Mo Chit, is covered in Ari restaurants.
