Ratchathewi Restaurants: Where to Eat from Phaya Thai BTS to Pratunam
Ratchathewi restaurants by BTS stop: Thai-style pasta, Isan food on Phetchaburi Soi 14, a Korean tent bar at Phaya Thai, two starred rooms, halal Turkish.
Ratchathewi is the district most visitors pass through rather than aim for: BTS Ratchathewi is one stop north of Siam, BTS Phaya Thai is the interchange for the Airport Rail Link, and the streets around both stations are packed with hotels and hostels. That is exactly why Ratchathewi restaurants are worth knowing. Around the two stations you can eat Thai-seasoned spaghetti under a hostel, som tam in an air-conditioned shophouse on Phetchaburi Soi 14, Korean bar food in a tent at the bottom of the station stairs, Burmese tea-leaf salad on a soi towards Pratunam, and two Michelin-starred tasting menus. This list ranks eleven places on Google rating and review volume, the dishes and prices named in published sources, and editorial judgement.
Ratchathewi food comes in three budget bands. Isan and Thai rice shops on the Phetchaburi Road sois: 50 baht a plate at the cheapest curry-rice shop Grab lists, and 100 to 250 baht a head at Jae Dang. Casual sit-down places and cafés such as Pasta Ama, SoMaek, Pae Seafood or Piccolo Vicolo: roughly 150 to 500 baht. The two starred rooms sit in another bracket entirely: etcha publishes menus at 3,750 and 4,750 baht before service and VAT, while Signature publishes no current price. Getting here: take the BTS Sukhumvit line to Ratchathewi (N1) for Phetchaburi Road and Co Co Walk, or to Phaya Thai (N2) for the Airport Rail Link side. Drivers can use Co Co Walk Plaza, which Wongnai says is free for four hours.

How Ratchathewi eats: Phetchaburi Road, Phaya Thai and the Pratunam end
The district splits along its two main roads. Phetchaburi Road crosses Phaya Thai Road at the Ratchathewi intersection and carries on east to Pratunam, and its numbered sois are where the everyday eating happens. Grab’s Ratchathewi list walks through them: a curry-rice shop on Soi 5 with plates from 50 baht, closed on Sundays and busy with local office workers, Mai Aroi Kin Free on Soi 7 (the name translates as “not tasty, eat free”), P’Aor’s tom yum prawn noodles, which Grab says have been running for more than 20 years, and Jaekoy, a second som tam shop between Sois 12 and 14 that Grab lists open until 03:00. Those four are not ranked here, but they explain why this stretch feeds so many office lunches.
Phaya Thai Road runs north from the same intersection to BTS Phaya Thai and on to Victory Monument. It holds the hotels, Co Co Walk with its pubs and late kitchens, the VIE Hotel with Signature on the 11th floor, and the cafés. Further north, Rang Nam Road and the streets around the monument are a third zone with their own street food; the FAQ below covers that end.
Ratchathewi restaurants within five minutes of BTS Ratchathewi
If you are staying at one of the hotels around the intersection and want dinner without a taxi, several places on this list are a short walk from BTS Ratchathewi. Pasta Ama’s yellow shopfront has the most Google reviews of any venue on the page; it is one of 13 branches the brand now lists, and the Ratchathewi shop opens at 08:00, so it doubles as a breakfast stop. The brand’s link page points drivers to Ratchathewi Tower or Phet 9 Tower, each with the first hour free, and carries an online booking link.
Co Co Walk, on Phaya Thai Road opposite the Asia Hotel, is the late-evening block. Wongnai describes it as a cluster of restaurants, pubs and bars, and Pae Seafood is the kitchen in it that its reviewers walk to after drinking elsewhere. Chilling House Cafe, with more than 3,000 Google reviews, shares the 89/70 address; it is not ranked here. Signature is on the 11th floor of the VIE Hotel on the corner itself. Jae Dang, on Phetchaburi Road at the mouth of Soi 14, seats up to 80 and has a menu that runs from 110-baht som tam to 320-baht sun-dried squid and a 240-baht jim jum hot pot for a table to share.
Phaya Thai restaurants by the Airport Rail Link
BTS Phaya Thai is the station for anyone arriving on the Airport Rail Link, and the food around it is built for people with an hour to spare. SoMaek is the obvious name. In 2020 Wongnai reported its reservations booked to the end of the year, so if you cannot get a table, the station still has options. Ryoii’s guide to Phaya Thai lists Factory Coffee beside the rail link, with drinks from 100 baht and house specials at 120 and 150, Red Panda yakiniku buffet from 469 baht, SALANG’s Korean barbecue buffet at 350 baht with a two-hour limit, and Zeed.station, a krapao shop with a pork set at 169 baht. None of these four is ranked here, but each answers a different question: coffee before a train, a long group dinner, or a fast plate of basil pork.
SoMaek only opens in the evening. For a daytime meal with a group, B-Story Cafe in the Co Co Walk block, one stop south by BTS Ratchathewi, opens at 10:00 according to Google and has a long Thai and Western menu with indoor seating, which suits a family better than a soju bar. Wongnai’s café list sends readers to BTS Phaya Thai exit 4 for it, but the 89/70 address, Google’s map pin and Zafigo all place it beside BTS Ratchathewi.
Pratunam food: Soi Phetchaburi 15, halal Turkish and Burmese
For halal food between Ratchathewi and Pratunam, Red Istanbul at 497/12 Phetchaburi Road is the sit-down choice, a few hundred metres from BTS Ratchathewi on the Thung Phaya Thai stretch. Reviewers on Wanderlog praise the grilled meats and fresh bread, and several call it expensive for Thailand while others find it fair for the quality. Madena, which Google also lists as halal, is next door at 497/10. Phetchaburi Soi 7, a couple of blocks from Pratunam Market according to Zabihah, is a small Muslim community around the Darul Aman Mosque. Our wider halal food in Bangkok guide covers Sukhumvit Soi 3, MBK and Bang Rak.
Soi Phetchaburi 15 is the Burmese corner. Yoe Yoe Lae, at number 37, publishes its hours and dishes on its own website, and its name means “simply” in Burmese. Its Pratunam branch opens at 08:00, so it works for breakfast as well as a beer at night; signing up through LINE takes something off the first order. For Indian restaurants with checked menus, see our Indian restaurants in Bangkok list. At the far end, View Rooftop on the Novotel Platinum Pratunam has a Greek sharing menu on its menu page (dips at 220 baht, calamari at 360, chicken souvlaki at 560, plus 10 percent service and 7 percent VAT), which makes it a dinner as well as a drink. The higher towers are compared in our rooftop bars in Bangkok guide, and the mall side of Pratunam is in CentralWorld restaurants.
Michelin-starred dinners and Ratchathewi cafés
Ratchathewi has two Michelin-starred restaurants you can walk to from the BTS. Signature, at the corner of the intersection, is Thierry Drapeau’s French cooking; the Michelin Guide describes a cuisine of the soil from his Loire Valley background, sharpened with herbs and edible flowers, in an art-deco room with an open kitchen. etcha is newer, one of the three first-time one-star restaurants of the 2026 edition: its Michelin page talks about European technique applied to Thai produce and singles out Thai white asparagus with beurre blanc and white chocolate. The hotel’s listing puts the Chatrium Grand about ten minutes on foot from BTS Ratchathewi and seven from BTS Siam. Book both well ahead. For the rest of the city’s starred rooms, see Michelin-starred restaurants in Bangkok and our fine dining in Bangkok list.
The cafés are the opposite end of the day. Piccolo Vicolo is the quiet one, with bare concrete, leather chairs and green walls; BK Magazine priced matcha with coconut water at about 140 baht and a piccolo latte at 100. B-Story is the one you can stay in for lunch, with a glass-roofed garden room. Grab adds Stockroom, a café in a renovated old building on Phetchaburi Soi 18, and Mono Cafe on Soi 16, which serves a Western breakfast from 07:00. For the city-wide list, see cafés in Bangkok.
Getting there, late hours and parking
Most of this list sits around BTS Ratchathewi. Jae Dang is about 200 m from the station according to Wongnai, Yoe Yoe Lae on Soi 15 is roughly 600 m east towards Pratunam on Google’s map, and the Pratunam junction is about a kilometre away. The Phaya Thai Road side of the station drops you at Co Co Walk. BTS Phaya Thai is one stop north and connects to the Airport Rail Link; SoMaek is at exit 2. Siam is one stop south of Ratchathewi, so our Siam restaurants guide is a short ride away, and Ari restaurants are four stops north for a quieter neighbourhood meal.
Ratchathewi late night food runs well past mall closing time. Google lists Pae Seafood and Jae Dang open past 03:00 (Wongnai’s hours for Jae Dang disagree, so call first), and Grab lists Uan Pang Ping Nom Sod on Phetchaburi Road, a toast-and-milk dessert shop, open until 04:00. Plan a taxi or ride-hail for the trip home. For parking, Wongnai lists none at Jae Dang; use Co Co Walk Plaza (four hours free), the towers Pasta Ama recommends, or the hotel car park when you eat at Signature or etcha.
