View Rooftop is the ninth-floor bar and restaurant of the Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam at 220 Phetchaburi Road, about eight minutes on foot from BTS Chit Lom according to its own site, with a lift from the lobby. It is not a high tower; the view runs across the Pratunam rooftops to the buildings around Ratchaprasong, which looks better after dark.

The kitchen now cooks Greek and coastal Mediterranean plates for sharing under Chef Titos, priced before 7 percent VAT and 10 percent service. Dips such as hummus, baba ganoush and tzatziki are 220 baht each, taramas 480, calamari 360 and chicken souvlaki 560; for a full meal there is a pork chop at 760, mousakas at 510 and a striploin at 1,820. If you are mainly drinking, a build-your-own skewer plate starts at 220.

The bar opens daily from 17:00 to midnight. Between 17:00 and 18:00 classic cocktails are two-for-one from 370 baht plus-plus; after 18:00 a bucket of four Coronas is 799, zero-alcohol cocktails start at 250, and Tuesday nights bring a 1,200-baht set of steak, salad and sweet potato fries.
