Fine Dining Bangkok: 20 Tasting Menus Ranked, From 850-Baht Starred Lunches to Three Michelin Stars
Fine dining Bangkok guide with prices: three-star Thai, chef's counters, French and Indian tasting menus, starred lunches under 2,000 THB, booking tips.
Fine dining in Bangkok has grown from a handful of hotel French rooms into dozens of starred kitchens, and for a visitor the hard part is not finding a tasting menu but choosing one. This 2026 list ranks 20 fine dining restaurants in Bangkok whose award, menu format, price or booking rules could be checked against the Michelin Guide, the restaurants’ own pages and the press. It covers the two three-star rooms, the two-star hotel restaurants on the river and in State Tower, the one-star Thai kitchens in Talat Noi, Chinatown and Sathorn, and the lunch menus that let you in for under 2,000 baht. Ranking comes from awards, Google rating and review volume, published prices and editorial judgement.
Budget in three bands, before the 17 percent service and VAT. Starred lunches cost 850 to 2,600 baht at Saneh Jaan, nahm, Côte and Blue. Most one- and two-star dinners cost 3,500 to 6,700: etcha, GOAT, R-Haan, INDDEE. The top tier, Sorn, Mia and Chef’s Table, runs 7,000 to 8,000 baht before wine, and Mezzaluna publishes no price. By train, the restaurants cluster at BTS Phrom Phong and Thong Lo on Sukhumvit, at Chit Lom, Phloen Chit and Ratchathewi in the centre, at MRT Lumphini for Sathorn, at BTS Saphan Taksin for State Tower and the river hotels, and at MRT Wat Mangkon and Hua Lamphong for Chinatown and Talat Noi.

Fine dining in Bangkok in 2026: what the money buys
The Michelin Guide Thailand 2026, announced in November 2025, is the backdrop. Sühring joined Sorn at three stars, INDDEE and Le Normandie, now Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie, moved up to two, and etcha, Gaggan and Nusara were among seven restaurants new to one star. What you buy at each level is mostly time and focus. A one-star menu in Bangkok runs eight to fourteen courses over two to three hours. Two- and three-star rooms add more courses, more tableside work and longer booking queues. Almost everything is a set menu now; à la carte survives at Saneh Jaan and in a few hotel rooms, such as Le Normandie with its three-dish minimum.
The other change is cuisine. Eight of the 20 restaurants here cook Thai or Thai-Chinese at the top level, and Bangkok’s best-known chef’s counter, Gaggan, cooks progressive Indian. French remains strong in the hotels. For the full list of starred and Bib Gourmand addresses with prices, see Michelin restaurants in Bangkok.
Best fine dining in Bangkok, ranked
Sorn comes first because it changed how Thailand’s own cooking is judged. It was the country’s first three-star restaurant, its menu is built on named southern produce, and at 7,200 baht it costs less than Chef’s Table’s two-star menu. Sühring is second for the opposite reason: a German tasting menu in a Sathorn villa that has run since 2016 and only reached three stars in 2026. R-Haan and INDDEE follow as the strongest two-star dinners that are not French. Côte comes ahead of the other river rooms on value, because its 1,800++ lunch is a true two-star meal.
Gaggan sits ninth: it holds one star in the 2026 guide and ranks third in Asia’s 50 Best, but the restaurant publishes no price (Tablejourney lists 8,500 baht) and books through its own channels. Below it, the one-star list is close, so pick by what you want to eat. Potong suits a Chinatown night, nahm a Thai meal on a budget, 80/20 and Aksorn the Charoen Krung old quarter, etcha the newest kitchen, GOAT local produce and fermentation, Mia a vegan tasting menu, and Signature a starred French room you can walk to from a BTS station.
Thai fine dining in Bangkok
Thai fine dining is now the most interesting reason to book. Sorn cooks the south: Tapi River prawns, Phuket lobster, Andaman squid. R-Haan serves samrub, the traditional Thai set of dishes eaten together, alternating classics such as a crab-roe and yellow-chilli dip with modern reworkings. Aksorn’s David Thompson cooks from Thai cookbooks of the mid-twentieth century and serves the mains family style. 80/20 brings Lao influences and a Yasothon rice course. Potong is Thai-Chinese, built on a five-element idea of salt, acidity, spice, texture and Maillard reaction. nahm works across all the regions.
For something lighter, Saneh Jaan’s sets from about 850++ baht are the lowest-priced starred Thai meal on this list, with à la carte classics such as crispy rice vermicelli with river prawn. Saawaan in Sathorn, starred from 2019 to 2022 by its own account and now in the guide without a star, builds its tasting menu on fermenting and charcoal grilling. For Thai restaurants outside the tasting-menu world, see best restaurants in Bangkok.
Affordable fine dining in Bangkok: lunch menus under 2,500 THB
Lunch is where Bangkok fine dining gets cheap. Saneh Jaan’s set menus start at about 850++ baht. nahm’s Kanom Jin set is 1,100++, a meal built around fresh rice noodles and curries, served in a starred dining room; lunch days differ by source, so confirm with the hotel. Côte’s four-course Esplanade lunch at 1,800++ is two-star Riviera cooking on the river; it runs Wednesday to Sunday, with last orders at 13:30. Blue by Alain Ducasse at ICONSIAM serves five courses at lunch for 2,550++, just over the line, against 8,500 for the Voyage menu at dinner. Mia and Cadence by Dan Bark, which has no star in the current guide, also serve weekend lunches. If you want one starred meal on a budget, book a lunch at one of these four.
French, Indian, Italian and Japanese tasting menus
French still dominates the hotels. Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie, Mezzaluna, Chef’s Table, Blue and Signature are all French at heart, and Côte works the French and Italian Riviera from Nice to Genoa. etcha applies European technique to Thai produce, as in its white asparagus with beurre blanc and white chocolate. Indian cooking has two of the city’s most sought-after tables: INDDEE’s regional journey at two stars and Gaggan’s counter; more in Indian restaurants in Bangkok.
For Italian at tasting-menu level, THE S Bangkok on the river near Asiatique publishes dinner courses at 3,000 and 5,000 baht; see Italian restaurants in Bangkok. For omakase, Ryuzu in Marché Thonglor lists 14 courses at lunch for 3,500++ baht and an 18-course uni menu with four pieces of uni for 8,900++ on its own site; THE STANDARD’s 2025 review describes the signature Nagasaki beef with uni. Other counters are in Japanese restaurants in Bangkok.
Fine dining with a view: riverside and rooftop tasting menus
Five of these rooms come with a view. Côte and Le Normandie sit on the Chao Phraya, Blue faces it from ICONSIAM, and Mezzaluna and Chef’s Table look down on the river bend from the 65th and 61st floors of State Tower. The hotel boats from Sathorn Pier beside BTS Saphan Taksin serve the Mandarin Oriental and the river side generally; Blue is easiest on the BTS Gold Line to Charoen Nakhon. For starred cooking at altitude, and for less formal rooftop dinners, see rooftop restaurants in Bangkok.
Booking, dress codes and service charges explained
Book early and read the terms. Sorn opens each month’s tables on the 15th of the month before. Gaggan takes bookings itself through its website, phone, WhatsApp and LINE. etcha takes the full menu price as a deposit and needs 72 hours’ notice to cancel. lebua keeps restaurant deposits on cancellations within 72 hours. Le Normandie asks for at least three dishes per person. Most restaurants list prices as ”++”, meaning 10 percent service and 7 percent VAT are added, and drink pairings add another 1,600 to 4,700 baht at etcha and INDDEE.
On dress, the hotels state a code: smart elegant at Mezzaluna and Chef’s Table, smart casual with no shorts or flip-flops at Côte, Signature and Saneh Jaan. Independent houses publish none, but trousers and closed shoes are never wrong. Several of these rooms are in lanes too narrow to park in, including Sühring on Yen Akat, GOAT on Ekkamai 10 and Mia off Rama 4, so arrive by taxi. For more restaurants around the Sathorn cluster, see Sathorn restaurants.
