About

Aksorn occupies the fifth and top floor of Central: The Original Store, the first Central department store, at 1266 Charoen Krung Road near the General Post Office. It is chef David Thompson's restaurant, and the Michelin Guide calls him a culinary historian for reviving recipes from mid-century Thai cookbooks. The guide page shows one star, a three-of-four price band, and describes several mains arriving together in family style with spice levels kept approachable. Time Out names nam prik nakhon ban, green curry and kanom jeen with crab-chilli relish; the Bangkok Post reported one family-style five-course set each night at 2,800 baht per person, a figure from the opening period, so check current pricing. The restaurant site lists 18:00 to 22:00 daily (Google says to 23:00) and bookings through SevenRooms. Seats are either inside facing the open kitchen or out on the terrace, which Fodor's suggests requesting in the cool months. Google rates it 4.0 from 271 reviews, lower than the other starred rooms nearby partly because the count is small. About ten minutes on foot along Charoen Krung from BTS Saphan Taksin.
