Asok Restaurants: 16 Places to Eat Around BTS Asok, from Soi 19 Izakaya to Soi 23 Thai
Asok restaurants ranked: 16 places around BTS Asok and Sukhumvit 19 to 23, from Soi 19 izakaya and Soi 23 Thai to a 39th-floor rooftop and Terminal 21.
Asok restaurants sit in a small grid around one junction: BTS Asok over Sukhumvit Road, MRT Sukhumvit beneath it, and Terminal 21 on the corner joining the two. Most visitors only see the mall, but the sois around it are where Asok eats in the evening. Soi 19 behind Terminal 21 is a lane of small izakaya that open only at night, Asok Montri Road (Soi 21) has the Japanese-beef yakiniku the local Japanese community uses, Soi 23 is a university soi with home-style Thai, a vegan kitchen and a charcoal grill open until 02:00, and across Sukhumvit Road, Soi 22 has a family-run halal Thai kitchen. This page ranks 16 places around BTS Asok whose menus and prices are documented in public sources, from the Sukhumvit 19 to 23 sois to the handful of mall tables worth knowing. Ranking comes from Google rating and review volume, documented dishes and editorial judgement. The mall itself, floor by floor with the Pier 21 food court, has its own guide: Terminal 21 restaurants.
Budget in three bands. Pier 21: 40 to 90 baht a dish per Travjoy. Soi 23 kitchens, Soi 19 izakaya and the mall’s casual restaurants: 150 to 500 baht a head. Hotel rooms and the rooftop, Rossini’s and Bangkok Heightz: 800 to 3,000 baht a head. Transit is simple: the BTS skywalk runs into Terminal 21 and the MRT is reached inside the building; Asok Montri Road (Soi 21) runs north from the junction on the mall’s east side; Soi 19 is beside the mall on the west; Soi 23 is the next odd soi toward Phrom Phong; Soi 22 is across Sukhumvit Road. Drivers park at Terminal 21 or in a hotel car park: Tamaruya stamps tickets at the Hilton or Pullman, and Rossini’s and Bangkok Heightz sit inside their hotels.

Asok restaurants in one map: Terminal 21 plus five sois
Terminal 21 is the anchor and the sois are the spokes. West of the mall, Soi 19 runs north and holds Hanako and a row of other evening-only Japanese kitchens, with Indique in the SQ Boutique Hotel at the mouth. North from the junction, Asok Montri Road is Sukhumvit Soi 21, an office street with Tamaruya Honten in the Fico Place building, Kenshin Izakaya on the corner of its Soi 1 and Mad Moa a few doors into that same side lane. East of the mall, Soi 23 is long and reaches Phetchaburi Road; Oniku to Gohan sits in Jasmine City at the mouth, Oranuch and May Veggie Home are deeper in near Srinakharinwirot University. South of the road, Soi 22 runs down past the Queen’s Park hotel to Usman, and the Sheraton Grande, home of Rossini’s, stands on the corner opposite the mall. The Continent Hotel with Bangkok Heightz on its 39th floor is on the junction itself.
The practical difference is who the places are for. Mall restaurants are chains with other branches, built for shoppers, families and the lunch rush, with air-conditioning and a car park. The soi places are independent, often cheaper, and keep the hours of their regulars: evenings only in Soi 19, until 02:00 at Oniku to Gohan, lunch and dinner with a gap between at Mad Moa. If you have one hour at midday on a weekday, use the mall. If you have an evening, cross the road. The whole road soi by soi is at Sukhumvit restaurants.
Terminal 21 and Pier 21 in brief
Inside the mall, the restaurants are on floors 4 and 5, both themed as San Francisco, and After You’s desserts are down on floor 1. Pier 21, the food court on floor 5, is the cheapest meal at the junction, with most dishes at 40 to 90 baht in 2026 per Travjoy, paid with a prepaid card from the counter by the entrance and refunded the same day. This page ranks five of them, Have a Zeed, Kub Kao Kub Pla, Ponn Café, Yakiniku Like and After You, for an Asok meal that stays indoors; the full floor-by-floor list, with room numbers, buffets and how to pay at Pier 21, is in Terminal 21 restaurants.
Best restaurants in Asok outside the mall
The two highest Google scores on this list are both outside Terminal 21. Indique, in the SQ Boutique Hotel at the mouth of Soi 19, is an Indian gastrobar with a tandoor, biryanis, an Indo-Chinese section and a cocktail bar with a 17:00 to 19:00 happy hour; small plates start at an 89-baht samosa, live tabla and sitar play on Friday and Saturday, and the website asks you to book from Thursday to Sunday. It offers vegetarian, vegan and Jain menus but makes no halal claim and serves alcohol. Oniku to Gohan, on the ground floor of Jasmine City at the mouth of Soi 23, grills beef over a tabletop shichirin and serves it with rice imported from Fukuoka; BK Magazine quotes the group menu at 360 baht for beef tongue rolled with spring onion and 380 for sirloin yakisuki, and leftover rice goes home as free onigiri. It is open until 02:00.
Tamaruya Honten in Fico Place on Soi 21 is the serious Japanese-beef table, Hida and Hokkaido cuts, a 369++ beef set lunch that is far cheaper than the roughly 1,795-baht dinner course one diner reported, and parking stamped at the Hilton or Pullman. Mad Moa, in the side lane Sukhumvit 21 Soi 1, is a tiny American room with a 470-baht flank steak, a Caesar salad and house fried chicken; call before going, since Saturday is dinner only and Sunday is closed. Rossini’s at the Sheraton Grande opposite the mall is the hotel Italian, with a weekday set lunch that a 2023 chamber of commerce promotion listed at 720++ to 1,200++ baht, well under the 2,800++ dinner degustation of a 2024 promotion. Hanako in Soi 19 is the izakaya for a long night of sashimi and yakitori; there is no online menu, so start with the grill and add raw fish to taste.
Thai restaurants on Sukhumvit Soi 23
Soi 23 runs from Sukhumvit through to Phetchaburi with Srinakharinwirot University in the middle, so its Thai food comes at two prices. Oranuch at 36/1 is the one to take guests to: the kitchen team moved here from Kram Cafe and kept the garden concept, Auntie Ying with more than twenty years in restaurants fronts the room, and the plates are papaya salad with fermented crab, pork panang and banana with sago in coconut milk. Book on LINE or Chope for dinner, and take a motorbike taxi from the soi mouth, because the walk is long and hot. At student prices, May Veggie Home on the second floor of Prasarnmit Plaza near the university gate has cooked fully vegan Thai in Bangkok since 2011: vegan pad thai, tom yum noodles and handmade dumplings at 120 to 250 baht a head, with no onion or garlic on request.
Inside the mall the Thai choices are Have a Zeed on floor 4, where Thai reviewers recommend the tom yum kung, sea bass fried with fish sauce and corn som tam, at 250 to 500 baht a head and with weekend queues; Kub Kao Kub Pla on floor 5, the iberry group’s home-style kitchen that Wongnai rates highest of the mall’s Thai tables, for crispy pork with chilli and salt and yam naem khao tod; and Ponn Café on floor 4 for scrambled-egg rice with crispy pork and jaew. Bangkok Heightz on the 39th floor of The Continent Hotel is the Thai room with a view: street-food-inspired dishes replated, a 690-baht lamb shank massaman and cocktails at 320 in BK Magazine’s report, and, per a HappyCow reviewer, a 500-baht per person deposit for a window table that comes off the bill.
Indian and halal food near Asok
Indique at the mouth of Soi 19 is the high end, with the caveats above: Google files it as halal but the restaurant’s own site makes no halal statement, and it serves alcohol. For a halal kitchen, cross Sukhumvit Road to Soi 22. Usman, in a small side lane off Soi 22 past the Queen’s Park hotel, is a family-run halal Thai kitchen with almost 2,700 Google reviews; eatingthaifood puts most plates at 80 to 120 baht, the spicy beef salad is that reviewer’s must-order, the oxtail soup and biryani follow, and the kitchen is slow, so order everything at once. Its opening days are not settled: Google lists it open daily from 10:00 to 21:30, while the older eatingthaifood review gave Friday as a closing day, so call before a Friday visit. On foot it is about ten minutes from BTS Phrom Phong.
Amritsr, with more than 8,800 Google reviews, is at Soi 11 on the Nana side with a second branch on Soi 22, and Punjab Grill, a Michelin Selected restaurant in the Michelin Guide Thailand 2026, is in Soi 13; both are ranked on the Sukhumvit page. The city-wide lists are at Indian restaurants in Bangkok and halal restaurants in Bangkok.
Asok late-night restaurants and bars
Asok bars usually means Soi Cowboy, the short neon lane off Asok Montri Road, which is a drinks street rather than a dinner one. For food after the mall closes at 22:00 the list has real options. Oniku to Gohan at Jasmine City runs until 02:00 per Google’s data, which is rare for a charcoal grill of that standard; book on Saturday nights. Hanako in Soi 19 serves until midnight or 01:00 depending on the source. Kenshin Izakaya on the corner of Asok Montri Soi 1 closes at midnight every day, and it is the answer for anyone who wants to drink and eat without a service charge: prices are net, soy-braised pork is 128 baht, a 500 ml Hokkaido lavender beer 188. Bangkok Heightz is open until 02:00 on the 39th floor per the hotel, Indique until 23:30 with live music on Friday and Saturday, and Rossini’s dinner service ends at 22:30.
The BTS and MRT stop around midnight, and the Sukhumvit Road frontage of Terminal 21 is the easiest place to find a taxi or ride-hail. On the MRT Blue Line north, Phra Ram 9 is two stops away and Thailand Cultural Centre, the start of Ratchada, three; those sides are covered at Rama 9 restaurants and Ratchada restaurants. One BTS stop east, the EM District malls and the Japanese sois are at Phrom Phong restaurants.
Getting to Asok by BTS, MRT and car
BTS Asok on the Sukhumvit line and MRT Sukhumvit on the Blue line connect through the Terminal 21 building, so you can change lines without touching the pavement. Asok Montri Road on the Soi 21 side leads to Tamaruya Honten, about 200 metres from Terminal 21, and to Kenshin and Mad Moa on its Soi 1; Kenshin is about 200 metres from MRT Sukhumvit. Soi 19 is beside the mall on the Nana side for Indique and Hanako. Soi 23 is the next odd soi toward Phrom Phong, with Jasmine City at the mouth and Oranuch and May Veggie Home further in, about ten minutes on foot from BTS Asok; a motorbike taxi from the soi mouth saves the walk. Soi 22 is across the road; Usman, deep in the soi past the Queen’s Park hotel, is about ten minutes on foot from BTS Phrom Phong.
Terminal 21 has its own car park, and the hotels around the junction are the solution for soi restaurants: Tamaruya stamps tickets for the Hilton or Pullman, Rossini’s is inside the Sheraton Grande, Bangkok Heightz inside The Continent. For anything within walking distance of the junction, the train and a short walk are the simplest way in.

Yes. Asok and Asoke are two romanisations of the same Thai name, อโศก, used for the intersection of Sukhumvit Road and Asok Montri Road (Sukhumvit Soi 21).
