Thonglor Cafes: 9 Coffee Shops and Brunch Rooms from Soi 5 to Ekkamai
Thonglor cafes by style: specialty roasters, laptop-friendly rooms, Japanese coffee, brunch and the Ekkamai cafes you can walk to, with coffee prices.
Thonglor cafes are strung along a single road. Thonglor Road, which is Sukhumvit Soi 55, runs north from BTS Thong Lo, and the coffee is spread over its first two kilometres: a specialty room behind Panjit Tower near Soi 5, a Kyoto roaster’s counter at Soi 15 to 17, a Japanese brunch room near Soi 21. This guide is for people who live along Sukhumvit or are staying nearby and want to know which cafe in Thonglor fits the next two hours, whether that is a quick filter coffee, a morning of laptop work, a long brunch or a photo stop. It ranks nine cafes whose drinks and hours are documented in public sources, eight in Thonglor and one in Ekkamai that you can walk to. The order comes from Google rating and review count, menu evidence and editorial judgement.
Thonglor coffee prices sit between the suburbs and a hotel lobby. A specialty coffee drink costs 115 to 150 baht: Voiij’s Gapper’s milk coffee is 115 and its Tidy 130, and NICO NICO’s No.2 Kyoto is 120. A cookie at Voiij is 65 baht, and a brunch plate runs 260 to 480 baht, with Lucca adding 10 percent service and 7 percent tax. For transport, take BTS Thong Lo and use exit 3, which drops you at the mouth of the soi. Voiij, Lucca and BENKOFF are five to eight minutes on foot. Past Soi 13, ride the red songthaew that runs up the road for 8 baht or take a motorbike taxi from the soi mouth. Popcup and the other Ekkamai cafes are nearer BTS Ekkamai, one stop east. Of the nine, NICO NICO is the one with a building car park listed, in DM Home.

Thonglor cafes in 2026: how the road is laid out
Think of the road in three stretches. The BTS end, from Soi 5 to Soi 9, has the cafes you can walk to in under ten minutes: Voiij behind Panjit Tower, Lucca at 125/26 and BENKOFF in NT Tower at Soi 9. The middle, roughly Soi 13 to Soi 21, is where cafes are most packed together. BKKMenu’s 2026 update treats Soi 13 as the cafe soi of the year, with Local Boys, the Good Chā matcha bar, Woolloomooloo’s Korean-style bakery in the Civic Park building and Homeland, a cafe that doubles as a grocery. Soi 17 has The Commons, with Roast and Roots on its market floor. Further up, Soi 25 has Pacamara, which opens at 06:30, and BECCA by Kurōpan, which BKKStay notes has plenty of parking.
Timing matters more than location. Most Thonglor cafes close between 16:00 and 18:00, Lucca is the only one on this list still open at night, and three of them close one day a week or month: First Aid Kiss on Monday, Craftspace on Sunday and BENKOFF on the 16th. Two more have a disputed day off. Google lists Voiij open daily while The Standard says Wednesday, and Google lists Kurasu open daily while Grab says Monday. Check their Instagram before a trip built around either. For dinner after coffee, the same soi is covered in Thonglor restaurants.
Specialty coffee in Thonglor: roasters and espresso bars
If the coffee itself is the point, four of the nine are worth planning around. Voiij buys from Wonders Roaster in two profiles. Pilot Program, a Colombian and Guatemalan medium-dark roast, is the one for milk. City Pop, Thai and Myanmar beans with a bright finish, goes into black coffee and the juice drinks, such as the 150-baht Nebuta Festival of Aomori apple juice, tonic and an espresso shot.
Kurasu opened its Bangkok shop in 2019, its second outside Japan, and its beans come from Japan. The stand at Home Place pours seasonal single origins on both espresso and filter, plus the Bangkok Blend, a darker roast made for a wider audience, and the counter is open so you can watch the brewing. Its hours depend on the source: Google gives 08:00 to 16:00, the brand’s own site runs to 18:00, so arrive before 16:00 to be safe. Local Boys roasts in its Soi 13 shop, splits the menu between a speed bar and a slow bar with six beans to choose from, and cans its fruit drinks, such as the Yuzu Boom and Mango Boom. Japan’s Brutus magazine put this branch on a list of Thai coffee bars with no equivalent in Japan. BENKOFF keeps single origins and a house blend, and Wongnai reviewers point black-coffee drinkers to the Black Lychee and the Orange Espresso.
Kurasu, Local Boys and BENKOFF are not built for sitting. A good Thonglor coffee walk is Voiij first, then BENKOFF at Soi 9, then the songthaew to Soi 13 for Local Boys and on to Kurasu at Soi 15.
Thonglor cafes for working: Wi-Fi and early opening
Craftspace is the one designed for work. Grab describes a coffee bar combined with a workspace and facilities for freelancers, and it opens at 06:30, so you can be at a desk by seven. It closes at 15:30 and all day Sunday, which makes it a morning office only. Lucca covers the rest of the day: the company’s own job listing calls it a cafe, all-day dining room and co-working space, and it stays open to 23:00. Popcup in Ekkamai is the quiet alternative until 17:00. Voiij and NICO NICO have only a few tables, and Voiij’s fill up on weekend mornings, so neither suits a full day on a laptop.
Off this list, Lemon8 posts describe Paper Plane Project on the 40th floor of the T-One building beside BTS Thong Lo giving eight hours of Wi-Fi per receipt, and The Standard lists it open until 01:00, the latest work seat in the area. Ryoii’s list of 15 free Wi-Fi cafes between Thonglor and Ekkamai includes Kaizen Coffee on Ekkamai Road, open 07:30 to 16:30, and Toby’s on Sukhumvit Soi 38, across the main road from the station.
Japanese coffee and cafes in Thonglor
Thonglor is one of Bangkok’s Japanese neighbourhoods, and two of its Japanese cafes are on this list. Kurasu’s anko toast, thick bread with sweet red bean paste and butter, is what the brand itself recommends first. NICO NICO mixes Japanese and Scandinavian cooking: the No.2 Kyoto is black coffee with caramel, butter and cinnamon at 120 baht, Noble Home recommends the Tamagoyaki Benedict and the Miso Avocado Toast, and Eatigo picks the Wasabi Crab Toast.
For matcha, Hannari Cafe de Kyoto sits on Thonglor Soi 10 near Donki Mall, with tatami seating as well as ordinary tables, matcha lattes, matcha pudding and dorayaki, open 10:30 to 21:00 according to Ryoii. BKKMenu notes that Good Chā on Soi 13 whisks matcha to order, cup by cup. For a full Japanese breakfast of rice, miso soup, an onsen egg and grilled fish, Noble Home and The Standard both point to Okonomi on Sukhumvit Soi 38. For sit-down meals, see Japanese restaurants in Bangkok.
Brunch cafes in Thonglor
Thonglor brunch peaks at weekends, and the two biggest names on this list are a short songthaew ride apart. Lucca’s all-day menu has three egg benedicts including a truffle version, a chicken teriyaki don at 350 baht, a Black Angus beef teriyaki don at 480 and desserts such as the lava tiramisu and a som jeed mille-feuille at 280 each. Book through LINE (@lucca.thonglor) for late weekend mornings. NICO NICO is smaller and closes in the afternoon. Google lists 16:00 and Time Out as late as 18:00, so arrive before 14:00 to be safe, and early if you want the breads.
The Standard’s list of 16 Thonglor brunch places prices a few more that are not ranked here: the Full English breakfast at Tiny Cup on Thonglor Road for 400 baht, a truffle egg benedict at Pacamara on Soi 25 for 250, buttermilk pancakes at Roast in The Commons for 220, and the Breakfast Board at Kay’s on Sukhumvit Soi 49 for 390. For brunch across the rest of the city, see brunch in Bangkok.
Themed and photo-friendly cafes
First Aid Kiss is the one people come to photograph. The brand says it was founded by a second-generation family of pharmacists, and Time Out’s 2022 review found the cafe on the floors above the family’s pharmacy, with drinks named like medicines: Inspirin for the 125-baht pandan milk coffee, Love Potion for a lemongrass tea with yuzu pulp. The brand’s own site now presents a cafe and bar themed as a rabbit burrow inside its House of Scents, serving homemade Greek yogurt bowls, bagels and smoothies, so the medicine-named drinks may have gone. The perfume, body mist and hand-cream workshops are booked on its website. Lucca’s room is white walls, rattan and olive trees under tall windows, and an upstairs studio runs yoga and sound-massage sessions. At Voiij, a Trip.com review notes free stickers on the counter.
Beyond these nine, BKKStay lists The Blooming Gallery in the basement of ETC on Thonglor Soi 8, filled with flowers, and Flat+White on Soi Thararom 2, whose white staircase is the photo, though its parking takes only two or three cars. For garden cafes in old houses rather than designed rooms, try Ari cafes.
Ekkamai cafes within walking distance
Ekkamai cafes sit one BTS stop east, and the two roads are linked on foot. Thonglor Soi 10 cuts through to Ekkamai Soi 5, and Thonglor Soi 17 leads towards Ekkamai Soi 12. Popcup, the Ekkamai cafe on this list, is on Soi Ekkamai 4, close to the BTS end, with seats inside and out and two coffee blends, light and medium.
Ekkamai Soi 12 is the densest cafe stretch on that side. KTC lists Babyccino at No. 53, open 08:00 to 18:30 with truffle brioche and yuzu hollandaise eggs Benedict and valet parking when the lot fills. Grab lists Featherstone open to 22:00, and Ryoii notes grilled croissants at One Ounce for Onion for about 100 baht. Further along, Ink & Lion on Soi Ekkamai 2 roasts its own beans, Rolling Roasters is at The Earth Ekamai, where Time Out has Pinki’s Deli opening at 07:15, and Kaffe50 on Soi 21 closes on Sundays. For a cafe in Ekkamai with dinner afterwards, see Ekkamai restaurants.
Getting there from BTS Thong Lo and Ekkamai
From BTS Thong Lo, exit 3 leads down to the mouth of Sukhumvit Soi 55. Voiij, Lucca and BENKOFF are five to eight minutes’ walk. Local Boys on Soi 13 and Kurasu at Soi 15 to 17 take ten minutes or more, and NICO NICO near Soi 21 is about fifteen, so most people take the red songthaew from the soi mouth. The fare is 8 baht; tell the driver your soi number. Craftspace at No. 357 is also mid-road. For Popcup, BTS Ekkamai is the nearer station, five to seven minutes away.
Parking is the weak point of a Thonglor cafe trip. NICO NICO is the one on this list with a building car park, in DM Home, and Craftspace has kerbside spaces in front of its shophouse row, easiest to find early in the morning. None of the other Thonglor cafes here lists a car park of its own. BKKStay notes paid parking under The Commons and suggests parking at Donki Mall for Hannari.
