Phrom Phong restaurants run along Sukhumvit from Soi 24 to Soi 39, and while most visitors meet this station through its three malls, the people who live here eat in the sois. The odd-numbered Sois 31, 33 and 39 are home to many of Bangkok’s Japanese residents, and the ramen, tonkatsu and izakaya there are their everyday places; the even-numbered Sois 24 and 26 hold old noodle shops and, at number 56 Soi 26, the first restaurant in Thailand to win three Michelin stars. This page ranks 16 places in the sois and the EM District malls whose menus and prices are on public record, with the malls themselves kept to a short summary. Ranking comes from Google rating and review volume, verified dishes and editorial judgement.

Budget in three bands. Street carts and noodle shops on Sois 22 to 26: 50 to 150 baht a plate. Soi Japanese such as Kobe Tonteki, Ramen Tei, Don Don and Yukari: 300 to 900 baht a head. EmQuartier’s Helix restaurants and the Michelin tables, from LukKaiThong at 250 to 500 through Ginza Shabu-Ten at 750++ to Sorn at 7,200: 400 to 8,000 baht a head. BTS Phrom Phong connects to EmQuartier on the north side and Emporium on the south, and the odd-side stairs come down near Soi 39. Drivers have the mall car parks; in the sois, Don Don fits two or three cars out front per Wongnai, and Sarnies lists its own parking.

Phrom Phong restaurants in one map: three malls and two sides of the road

The station is the hinge. North of it, the odd sois climb toward Phetchaburi Road: Soi 33 with North’s garden house at number 8 and Yukari at 14/2, Soi 33/1 with Kobe Tonteki and Ramen Tei a few doors apart, Soi 35 and 37 with Sarnies at 1/39, and Soi 39 with Don Don at the end of its first left turn and Masa Garden down the lane called Soi Phrom Chit. South of the road, Soi 24 runs beside Emporium past cafés and condos, Soi 26 runs all the way to Rama 4 with Sorn near its far end and Mia on Soi Athakravi 1 just off it, and Soi 22, halfway back toward Asok, holds Usman.

The malls sit on the road itself. EmQuartier is on the north side, its Helix building wrapped around an atrium with a waterfall garden at ground level where D’ARK has its terrace. Emporium is on the south side, the older of the three. EmSphere opened in December 2023 between Sois 22 and 24, per Retail Insight Network. The difference between mall and soi is who the food is for: Helix restaurants are chains with other branches, air-conditioned, with parking and a service charge; soi restaurants are independent, priced net, and keep the hours of their regulars, which means some close one weekday. Asok is one stop west and its mall is covered at Asok restaurants.

The EM District malls in brief: EmQuartier, Emporium and EmSphere

The three malls on the main road are where most first visits to Phrom Phong start, and they deserve their own page: the floor-by-floor list, with the basement food hall, the G-floor brunch rooms and the Helix restaurants on floors 6 to 9, is at EmQuartier restaurants. In short, EmQuartier on the north side holds the ranked mall restaurants on this page, from D’ARK by the waterfall to Ginza Shabu-Ten on floor 8 and You&I’s buffet on floor 9. Emporium across the road is the older mall, with Gourmet Market at its base. EmSphere, open since December 2023 between Sois 22 and 24, leans toward late nights: Retail Insight Network counts 25 bars, pubs and clubs on its 5th and 6th floors.

For Phrom Phong food, though, the malls are a starting point, not the neighbourhood. Soi 24 beside Emporium is the way down to Ichiban Ramen opposite the Emporium exit, Isshin for soba and tempura sets at lunch, and the Vistro vegan café at 46/1, all listed by Grab but without enough published detail to rank. The sections below cover the sois.

Best restaurants in Phrom Phong outside the malls

Two of the three Michelin-recognised tables in Phrom Phong are in houses, not malls. Sorn at 56 Soi 26 is chef Supaksorn Jongsiri’s southern Thai restaurant, the first in Thailand to hold three Michelin stars, awarded in the 2025 guide and kept in 2026. The Michelin page describes a menu built on southern produce such as Tapi River prawns, Phuket lobster and Andaman squid. The set is 7,200 baht, dinner only, closed Saturday, and the restaurant’s own booking system opens on the 15th of each month for the following month and sells out fast. North at 8 Soi 33 is the gentler one: northern Thai in a green house with a front garden, Michelin-listed at ฿฿, with an à la carte lunch that Time Out calls reasonably priced and a seasonal dinner set it calls very expensive; the inspectors’ starter is the pomelo salad with free-range chicken and fermented crab sauce. Mia, one star in the 2026 guide, is at Soi Athakravi 1 on the Rama 4 side near the end of Soi 26, with meat, vegetarian and vegan tasting menus; an aggregator lists the eight-course Taste of Mia at 7,886 baht and the vegetarian menu at 6,944.

The rest of the outside list is Japanese and is covered in the next section, with two exceptions. Sarnies at 1/39 Soi 37 is the earliest opener on this list, 07:00 to 21:30 daily per its website, with breakfast around 350 to 400 baht and a 420-baht Neapolitan-style sourdough pizza. Usman, in a side lane off Soi 22, is the cheapest table here, halal Thai at 80 to 120 baht a plate; Google lists it open daily, though an older review gives Friday as a closing day, so call before a Friday visit. For the starred set across the city see fine dining in Bangkok.

Japanese restaurants in Phrom Phong (Soi 33 to 39)

For a Japanese restaurant, Phrom Phong’s answer starts on Soi 33/1, a short lane behind the odd side of the station. Kobe Tonteki cooks one thing, a thick pork steak done sous-vide and then seared with the house sauce, in sets from 300 baht net with sizes from 150 to 400 grams; a 2023 Blockdit review notes the prices are net and the room is small. A few doors along, the Phrom Phong branch of Ramen Tei, one of five in the city, does misokara ramen at 250 baht, cold hiyashi at 200 and a fried chicken Time Out calls a must-order, open 10:30 to 22:30. Soi 33 proper has Yukari at 14/2, a small izakaya with the highest Google score of any Japanese place on this list, 4.9, a soy-milk ramen as the signature and pork-belly-wrapped onigiri, opening 15:30 on weekdays and noon at weekends.

Soi 39 is the other Japanese soi. Don Don at 1/44-45, reached by taking the first left in the soi, has served Tokyo-style monjayaki on tabletop griddles for what reviewers say is more than twenty years; the base is about 210 baht, toppings around 60, tatami upstairs, and it is probably closed on Tuesdays. Masa Garden on Soi Phrom Chit off Soi 39 is the third branch of Suki Masa, Kansai sukiyaki and shabu in a Kyoto-style house with a zen garden, sets from 450 to 1,500 baht by beef grade and a 450-baht bakudan sashimi wrap. Grab lists more on Soi 39 that are not ranked here: Bankara Ramen and Sekai no Yamachan at The Manor, Tsukemen 55 at number 55, and Gold Curry, open 24 hours. In the mall, MAiSEN on the Helix gives Tokyo tonkatsu with unlimited rice and cabbage, and Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa the Nagoya eel. The city-wide list is at Japanese restaurants in Bangkok.

Street food and cheap eats on Sukhumvit 24 to 26

Phrom Phong street food exists, but on the even side and away from the malls. Soi 24 beside Emporium has the street-side kitchens and carts that Wongnai files as street food near Phrom Phong BTS. Soi 26 has Rung Rueang, the dry tom yum noodle shop with crispy pork and stewed beef that Grab places at its lowest price tier, open 08:00 to 17:00, and the Soi 26 branch of Savoey Seafood for sea bass fried with fish sauce. Soi 22, between here and Asok, has Usman at 80 to 120 baht. On the odd side, Im Jang at 669 at the mouth of Soi 37 is the made-to-order shop open 07:00 to 23:00 for pad krapao with a fried egg.

Inside EmQuartier the basement food court uses a prepaid card, and My Travel Note’s visit names a yen ta fo stall, a condensed-milk toast stall and coconut ice cream on sticky rice, without prices, so no per-dish figure is given here. The cheapest Japanese meals in the list are Kobe Tonteki’s 300-baht set and Ramen Tei’s 200 to 250-baht bowls, both net, with no service charge added.

Phrom Phong brunch and cafes

The two Phrom Phong cafés on this list sit on opposite sides of the station. D’ARK on the ground floor of the Helix is the meeting point, reached without riding the Helix lifts: coffee that Time Out calls the strength whether you order a flat white or a single-origin pour-over, smoked salmon eggs benedict and a truffle-mayo chicken sourdough toast, a terrace that allows dogs, and brunch served until 18:00. It is not a cheap breakfast; BK Magazine’s prices were 280 baht for the Mornay eggs and 320 for the breakfast burrito. Sarnies on Soi 37 is the working café: 07:00 to 21:30 daily per its website, house-roasted coffee, the tom yum eggs benedict and messy omelette that reviewers mention at every branch, and a short rib at 380 baht per 100 grams for dinner.

Grab lists cafés in the sois that are not ranked here: Thiang Na viennoiserie on Soi Phrom Si 1 for pandan-custard croissants from 07:30, Ryoku Cafe on Soi 35 for matcha parfaits, and Holey Artisan Bakery on Soi 31 for sourdough from 07:00. For the café neighbourhood proper, one station east, see Thonglor restaurants.

Getting to Phrom Phong by BTS and car

Which side of BTS Phrom Phong you leave by matters. The north side leads into EmQuartier, where the Helix lifts serve floors 6 to 9; the south side drops to Emporium and Soi 24. On the odd side, Soi 39 starts by the station and Don Don is under a hundred metres in, per Wongnai; Soi 33/1 is about five minutes back toward Asok for Kobe Tonteki and Ramen Tei, North on Soi 33 about eight, and Sarnies on Soi 37 about three, per its website. Soi 26 runs down to Rama 4 and Sorn is near the far end, about fifteen minutes on foot or a motorbike taxi from the mouth; Mia on Soi Athakravi 1 is entered from Rama 4.

By car, the mall car parks are the simplest option, and Sarnies lists parking on site and at EmQuartier. Don Don fits two or three cars out front per Wongnai; the other restaurants in Sois 33 and 33/1 publish no parking. The whole road, soi by soi from Nana to here, is at Sukhumvit restaurants.

Should I eat in the EM malls or in the Phrom Phong sois?

It depends on the meal. The malls give air-conditioning, parking and chains with set prices, such as Ginza Shabu-Ten on EmQuartier's floor 8 or D'ARK by the waterfall. The sois are cheaper and more personal: Kobe Tonteki's 300-baht net pork steak set on Soi 33/1, Usman's 80 to 120-baht halal plates off Soi 22, and Sorn's three-star southern Thai on Soi 26.

Is Emporium's food hall worth it?

Emporium is the older mall across the road from EmQuartier, with Gourmet Market and, per Hungry Hub, Greyhound Café on floor 1; Soi 24 beside it leads to street-side kitchens. No public source gives a current floor-by-floor food hall listing for Emporium, so this page does not rank it. For a prepaid-card food court, the EmQuartier basement is documented, and for net-priced sit-down meals the Soi 33/1 lane is about five minutes away on foot.
