Best Cafes in Bangkok: 16 Cafes by Neighbourhood, from Specialty Roasters to Laptop and Themed Cafes
Best cafes in Bangkok by neighbourhood: Ari, Thonglor, Silom, Chinatown and Charoen Krung roasters, laptop cafes, late and themed cafes, with prices.
The best cafes in Bangkok are spread across neighbourhoods rather than one street, and each area does something different. Ari has garden cafes a few minutes from the BTS. Thonglor has the specialty roasters and themed rooms. Charoen Krung, Talat Noi and Yaowarat put coffee inside century-old shophouses and riverside houses. This list has 16 cafes whose drinks and prices are documented in public sources, chosen to cover specialty coffee, places to work, cafes that open early or close late, and a couple of themed rooms. It is written for people living in or visiting Bangkok who want a reason to go to a particular cafe. Ranking comes from Google rating and review volume, documented drinks and prices, and editorial judgement.
Budget in three bands. A plain coffee costs about 60 to 70 baht at Coffee Room Yaowarat and Somewhere Home. Specialty milk coffees and signature drinks run 115 to 280 baht. Pastries and desserts are 65 to 280 baht, and brunch plates at Sarnies and D’ARK 280 to 440. By rail: BTS Ari for Ari, BTS Thong Lo for Thonglor (the red songthaew runs up the road), BTS Sala Daeng for GATTA, MRT Wat Mangkon for Yaowarat, and BTS Saphan Taksin or MRT Hua Lamphong for Charoen Krung and Talat Noi. Unfinished in Lat Phrao and Somewhere Home in On Nut need a motorbike taxi or a car.

Bangkok cafe culture in 2026: what to expect and what it costs
Bangkok cafes open early and close early. Craftspace starts at 06:30, Coffee Room Yaowarat at 07:00, Local Boys at 07:30, and most of them have shut by 16:00 to 18:00, so the afternoon coffee you plan at 17:00 may need to be a bar instead. The Little Prince is the exception in this list, open to 02:00, and Google lists Bay.aree to midnight. Several cafes here close one weekday, usually Monday, and some on unusual days: BENKOFF on Thonglor shuts on the 16th of every month, per Time Out, and The Standard reports Voiij closed on Wednesdays.
Seating varies more than menus. Kurasu, Local Boys and BENKOFF are built for takeaway, with very little seating. Nana’s garden and Naam 1608’s back deck over the river are the seats people come for. On this list, specialty milk drinks sit around 115 to 150 baht, with signature creations above that.
Specialty coffee in Bangkok: roasters and the best coffee shops
For specialty coffee, start with the cafes that roast. Coffee Room Yaowarat roasts on site daily, and its wall of beans from more than 20 origins lets you build a blend with the owner, a certified Q Grader. Unfinished Coffee Roaster on Lat Phrao Wang Hin 46 lets you choose both bean and roast level in a raw-concrete building. Local Boys roasts in its original Thonglor Soi 13 shop, Kurasu brings its Kyoto beans and a Bangkok Blend to Thonglor, and Nana Coffee Roasters is the Ari name foreign food writers cover most.
GATTA at Park Silom is the best specialty stop on the office side of the city: three beans for the iced latte at no extra charge, an 08:00 opening and a direct skywalk from BTS Sala Daeng. Hēi Jīi on Charoen Krung brews everything on an Aeropress and has no espresso machine at all.
Cafes to work from in Bangkok
Laptop-friendly means seats and nobody hurrying you. Somewhere Home in On Nut is the best example here: reviewers describe friendly owners who do not mind long sessions, with seating on two floors. Craftspace on Thonglor is set up for freelancers, Grab notes, but closes at 15:30. Coffee Room Yaowarat has a co-working floor upstairs, and Hollys Coffee at The Street Ratchada is open around the clock. GATTA’s tall stools are not built for a full day. Bay.aree is dark, with DJs some weekends, and Kurasu is a stand, so skip both for work.
Instagrammable, garden and themed cafes in Bangkok
The photogenic cafes in this list are also the ones with a story. The Little Prince Café sits inside French artist Arnaud Nazare-Aga’s L’Envol Art Space on Soi Suan Phlu, with his sculptures of the Prince and the Fox under a starry ceiling and a speakeasy in the same building. First Aid Kiss on Thonglor hides on the upper floors by the family pharmacy, with mid-century furniture, pill motifs and drinks named like medicines; the brand’s site now themes the cafe as a rabbit burrow, so the room may have changed since the 2021 and 2022 write-ups. Naam 1608 is a wooden house on the river in Talat Noi. Nana’s Ari garden is the green one. After You at Terminal 21 is the themed dessert chain whose Shibuya honey toast made the brand.
Cafes by neighbourhood: Ari, Thonglor, Charoen Krung and Chinatown
Ari packs Nana, Bay.aree, Porcupine and 1:2 Coffee into a few sois off Phahon Yothin. Our Ari cafes guide has more, and Ari restaurants covers lunch. Thonglor’s cafes line one road from Soi 5 to Soi 17, from Voiij behind Panjit Tower to Kurasu at Home Place; see our Thonglor cafes guide and Thonglor restaurants. Charoen Krung links Hēi Jīi at Soi 43 with Sarnies at Soi 44, and Talat Noi’s Naam 1608 is a short walk on; riverside restaurants in Bangkok continues from there. Yaowarat’s roasters sit among the gold shops, covered in Chinatown Bangkok restaurants.
Dessert cafes, bakeries and late-night cafes
For dessert, After You’s honey toast and mango sticky rice kakigori are the Bangkok standards, and Sweettime’s bua loi cart on Yaowarat Road is the street version. Hēi Jīi’s kumquat financier and Voiij’s 65-baht macadamia cookie are the small bakes worth ordering. For a full plant-based bakery, Veganerie is covered in vegan restaurants in Bangkok. For the eggs-and-toast side of cafe life, see brunch in Bangkok.
