About

Kenshin Izakaya's Asok branch sits on the corner of Asok Montri Soi 1 at number 155/5, opposite the Sino-Thai building and about 200 metres from MRT Sukhumvit. It is the kind of izakaya the Asok office crowd uses after work, and the thing reviewers repeat is that menu prices are net, with no VAT or service charge added at the end. The branch's Wongnai page lists the food plainly: Japanese soy-braised pork at 128 baht, the dish members recommend most, grilled marinated mackerel at 178, negima chicken-and-leek skewers at 38 each, grilled beef tongue at 188, a grilled pork-neck rice bowl at 178, half a grilled shimahokke at 248, yakisoba at 168 and a 500 ml Hokkaido lavender beer at 188. Reviews also praise the grilled liver, grilled crab miso and Nagoya-style fried wings. Wongnai puts the per-head band at 251 to 500 baht. Open 11:00 to midnight daily; Google rates it 4.3 from more than 1,700 reviews. Nothing about the room is fancy, which is the point: you can order a table full of snacks without watching the bill.
