About
Oranuch at 36/1 Sukhumvit Soi 23 is the new house of the kitchen team from Kram Cafe, which moved a short distance and kept its garden-and-greenery concept. Auntie Ying, with more than twenty years in restaurants, is the face of the place, according to its website. The cooking is home-style Thai done carefully rather than chef-driven. On Chope, diners vote the papaya salad with fermented crab and the pork panang curry as the two dishes to order, with banana and sago in coconut milk to finish. Chope's price band is simply "under 1,500 baht", too wide to be useful; expect ordinary Bangkok Thai-restaurant pricing. Open daily 11:30 to 23:00; book via LINE Official or Chope. Google shows 4.6 from nearly a thousand reviews. A sister restaurant, Pachi, serving Thai tapas, is also moving to Soi 23. About ten minutes on foot from BTS Asok or MRT Sukhumvit.
