About
Kinnaree by Vanessa WU has been at 43 Sukhumvit Soi 8 since 2006. The owner, Professor Vanessa WU (Wanasnan Kanokpattanangkul), has taught and cooked Thai food abroad for more than thirty years, and the restaurant is her Bangkok base for a menu built on produce from specific Thai communities, many with geographical-indication status. The signature the website itself calls playful is durian fried rice made with Narathiwat durian; the dessert to finish on is Phetchaburi palm-sugar ice cream. In between sit sai oua sausage, miang kham with prawn, a tom saap of baby pork ribs with longan, a southern curry of coconut shoot and puffball mushrooms, and sun-dried Mae La snakehead fish. Cocktails are named after provinces. The restaurant lists a Global Sustainable Gastronomy Award (Top 25) on its site. Open daily 12:00 to 23:00, last order 22:30. Wongnai reviewers quote 280 baht for the sai oua and 220 for the salad.
