About

Potong is the Thai-Chinese fine-dining restaurant of chef Pichaya 'Pam' Soontornyanakij, fourth-generation heir of the family that ran a Chinese herbal pharmacy in this century-old Sino-Portuguese building at 422 Vanich 1 Road in the heart of Yaowarat. It holds one Michelin star and stays on the one-star list of the Michelin Guide Thailand 2026. Time Out notes she was named Asia's Best Female Chef in 2024. The building has five floors: the original apothecary rooms on the second and third hold the tasting menu, Sino Bar sits on the ground floor, Opium Bar on the fourth is where Michelin suggests you finish the night, and the rooftop looks over Chinatown. Michelin describes a menu shaped by family memory and executed with assured technique, naming the layered phat thai with tiger prawn, the signature 14-day aged duck and rat na; Time Out adds blackened chicken with Chinese herbs. The kitchen works to a five-element philosophy of salt, acidity, spice, texture and Maillard reaction, with kombucha fermented in-house. The menu price is not published online; Michelin puts it in the top price band. Open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to Sunday, 15:30 to 23:00, closed Wednesday per Michelin and Google. Booking is essential. Google rates it 4.6 from more than 700 reviews. Four minutes from MRT Wat Mangkon.
