About
Kogoro Katsu opened in Siam Square in 2022 with a tonkatsu recipe from Niigata, the Japanese prefecture known for its pears. That shows up on the table as the house pear sauce, tangier than a standard katsu sauce, served next to a thicker sauce simmered from vegetables, fruit and 17 spices. THE STANDARD's 2022 review suggested mixing the two. Sets come with rice, steamed egg custard, soup and shredded cabbage, and the rice, soup and cabbage are refilled as you go.
The Bang Khae branch is on the 2nd floor of The Mall Lifestore Bangkae, unit 211, the same level as the skywalk from MRT Lak Song and the same floor as A Ramen and Yonny. Google rates it 4.8 from more than 500 reviews.
The prices below come from the chain's delivery menu for its Emsphere branch and may differ slightly here. The pork loin set is 279 baht, the tenderloin set 289, loin and tenderloin together 369, the signature pork chop katsu set 399, the cheese-stuffed loin set 369 and the gyukatsu set 699. Shrimp and oyster sets are 299, and kids' sets 279–299. Budget 280–500 baht a head.
