Khao Tom 4D (Bang Khae, Kanchanaphisek) ร้านข้าวต้ม 4D
Best for A late group dinner of shared khao tom dishes after work, about 100–250 baht a head.
About
Khao Tom 4D's Bang Khae branch is a large afternoon-to-late restaurant on Kanchanaphisek Road, about 400 m from MRT Lak Song. Khao tom here works the way it does across Bangkok: a pot of plain rice soup ordered alongside a spread of stir-fries, salads and soups for the table. It opens at 15:00 (14:00 on Sundays, per Wongnai) and runs to 23:30, so this is a dinner and after-work stop, not a breakfast one.
It seats 81–150 between an air-conditioned room and an outdoor area, takes credit cards, serves beer and spirits and allows pets. Wongnai ranks it second of 55 khao tom places in Bang Khae (3.9), and Google gives it 4.4 from more than 460 reviews. Wongnai's menu lists clams with roasted chilli paste at 130 baht, garlic-fried braised pork intestine at 100, minced pork omelette at 90, kale sprouts with crispy pork at 140, crispy gourami salad (yam pla salid) at 120, creamy tom yum goong at 170 and spicy braised pork soup at 140. Reviewers praise the creamy tom yum, the crispy pork dishes and the fried-egg salad, and one says the outdoor side shares a bill with the moo kratha grill next door, with sets from 300 baht. Grab names fish rice soup and minced pork congee as staples.
Plan on 100–250 baht a head, though one reviewer found it pricier than expected for a khao tom place.
