Ah Ou Bang Rak (Charoen Krung) อาอู๋บางรัก-เจริญกรุง
Best for Owner-run Thai-Chinese dinner for three or four sharing
About
Ah Ou Bang Rak is a Thai-Chinese shophouse with pavement tables at 2128/19 Charoen Krung Road near Soi 72, close to Asiatique at the Bang Kho Laem end of the road; the Bang Rak in the name comes from its former neighbourhood. GrabFood's list recommends the steamed sea bass in soy and flash-fried morning glory. A long Eating Thai Food review that worked through several dishes gives prices: dry-fried fish maw at 200 baht, the writer's favourite and real fish maw rather than pork skin, tofu in red gravy with crab, shrimp and ham at 200, Hong Kong-style dry noodles at 120, hoy jor crab rolls at 160 and razor clams with asparagus at 600, the dearest plate of the night. The review's verdict is that prices are high because of the ingredients, not the setting, at roughly 200 to 500 baht a head. Hours vary by source, Google 14:30 to midnight, Grab 11:00 to 23:00, the review says service starts about 17:30; all agree it closes Wednesdays, so arrive after 18:00. Google rates it 4.2 from more than 200 reviews. No rail reaches it; take a bus or taxi about ten minutes down Charoen Krung from BTS Saphan Taksin.
