About

Baan Ying is a Thai comfort-food chain that, according to Wongnai reviewers, began as a small shop in Siam Square around 1999 before spreading across Bangkok. The Central Rama 9 branch is on the 7th floor, the mall's main restaurant level. MRT Phra Ram 9 links into the mall underground, so you can get there without stepping outside.

The cooking is everyday Thai food rather than banquet dishes. Prices on Wongnai's member-recommended list run from 65 baht for the house creamy egg on rice (two eggs) to 170 baht for fish-sauce fried pork belly, 150 baht for wing bean salad, 260 baht for squid stir-fried with salted egg or a mixed seafood tom yum, and 295 baht for prawns tossed with bird's eye chilli and garlic. Grab's September 2026 round-up of the mall adds green curry with chicken, clear tom yum with prawns, pad thai with fresh prawns and a three-flavour fried fish.

Reviewers say the food suits several generations at one table, and the egg dishes come up more than anything else. One thought the bill was high for an ordinary meal. Wongnai puts most spend at 101 to 250 baht a head, and one reviewer found every table taken at noon.
