About

Home Cuisine Islamic Restaurant is the sit-down Thai-Muslim kitchen on Charoen Krung Soi 36, the lane of the Haroon Mosque community that Thai PBS World dates to the reign of King Rama III. It is about fifteen minutes on foot from BTS Saphan Taksin, across a car park from the French Embassy. Table Journey describes a family halal kitchen cooking Thai-Muslim curries, biryani and roti since 2000, cash only. Mark Wiens of Eating Thai Food went for the biryani and recorded khao mok gai, Thai chicken biryani, at 80 baht and a mutton biryani at 150. He rated the goat the standout for how easily it pulled from the bone, and described the sides: a sweet yoghurt sauce with tomato, onion and parsley, the usual mint sauce and an eggplant pickle. He compared the room to an American diner. Table Journey's own picks are the massaman lamb curry, roti with beef and a salted-egg fried rice. Culture Trip notes that the dishes are made to be shared at the table. Eating Thai Food lists Monday to Saturday 11:00 to 22:00 and Sunday dinner only, 18:00 to 22:00; that review is several years old, so call 02 234 7911 before you go.
