About
Shahrazad is the long-running Middle Eastern restaurant at 6/8 Sukhumvit Soi 3/1, the short lane off Nana known as Soi Arab, which BK Magazine describes as made up almost entirely of Middle Eastern restaurants, among which Shahrazad still stands out. It is about 100 metres into the soi on the left, 400 metres from BTS Nana and 500 metres from BTS Phloen Chit according to Wongnai; cars cannot get into the soi and there is no parking. The menu is pan-Arab with Indian and a few Thai plates, plus one page of Iranian dishes that BK notes is the only page left untranslated. Google files it as halal, Egyptian, Arab and Lebanese. Zabihah lists it as fully halal with a halal sign on the premises and no alcohol, but gives no certificate details. BK's prices: grilled leg of lamb 300 baht, a mezze selection 300 and smoky babaganoush 100; the chicken doner, the only doner on the menu, gets praise. Wongnai lists grilled minced goat at 200 baht, a 2023 member review paid 350 for Egyptian chicken rice and 50 for garlic naan, and the dishes members recommend most are goat biryani, garlic naan, tandoori chicken, masala chicken, grilled pigeon, moussaka and Um Ali. Wongnai puts the spend at 251 to 500 baht a head. Every source has it opening at 09:00, but closing times run from 23:00 to 03:00 depending on the source. Google rates it 4.0 from 1,649 reviews. It seats 11 to 40 and takes cards.
