About

Hua Seng Hong is the Chinese restaurant whose own website calls it a legend of more than 70 years, with the tagline of good meals passed from generation to generation. The mother branch is at 371-373 Yaowarat Road, a few hundred metres from MRT Wat Mangkon, and Google lists it open 09:00 to midnight daily, which makes it the most flexible sit-down room on the street. The site names Peking duck, Hong Kong roast duck, red shark fin soup, fish maw soup and Hong Kong-style noodles as the signatures, with dim sum and a menu of more than 200 items. Grab singles out prawn har gow, red-braised pork knuckle and crispy-skin roast duck at the Charoen Krung branch, which opens at 07:00. Dish prices are not published online; the one figure visible is a turbot festival from 1,199 baht, which hints at the big-plate level. Google scores it 4.3 from nearly 4,000 reviews, below HAGOW across the road. There are mall branches, but the old building on Yaowarat is the one that feels like Chinatown.
