About

Xie Chinatown began as a shark-fin pushcart on Yaowarat Road that traded for more than 30 years before moving into the shophouse at number 446, about ten metres before Soi Yaowarat 9. The move made it comfortable to sit down, though a 2024 review notes there is still no air-conditioning, only fans. What sets it apart from the other shark-fin carts is the Hong Kong fried noodles: Wongnai lists them at 100 and 139 baht, a medium at 180 to 269, and a sea-prawn and prawn-roe version at 150, and reviewers praise the dry, high-heat wok character with no greasiness. Grab adds the house crispy pork and the crab omelette. On the soup side, red-braised fish maw is 139 baht, red-braised shark fin 399, shark-fin cartilage 120, and a three-way set of shark fin, fish maw and fried noodles 455, with a sugar-free iced luo han guo at 49 to finish. Spend is 101 to 250 baht a head. Open 15:30 to 00:30 daily according to Google and Wongnai, while Grab marks it closed Monday in line with the Yaowarat stall custom. Google scores it 4.7 from more than 900 reviews; Wongnai gives 4.0. Cards accepted, toilet on site. MRT Wat Mangkon is three minutes away.
