About
Malakor is an Isan restaurant in the Dining Garden zone on the third floor of The Mall Lifestore Bangkapi, a short walk from Bang Kapi station on the MRT Yellow Line. The name is Thai for papaya. Naew Na's January 2024 piece on the zone describes it as a relaxed place for full-flavoured Isan food, set up for groups.
The dishes picked out in that piece cover a whole Isan meal: plain Thai som tam, tam pu pla ra (papaya salad with salted crab and fermented fish sauce), a big tray of tam mama with instant noodles, pla ra, salted egg, salmon, prawns and cockles, beef on a sizzling hot plate, crispy-skinned grilled chicken with sticky rice, and pad mee Sikhio, the Korat-style stir-fried rice noodles. A salad, a grilled meat and the noodles make a complete meal without moving to another shop.
Malakor does not publish its prices online. Google rates it 4.9 from 339 reviews and lists hours of 10:00 to 20:00, and to 21:00 on Friday and Saturday, so it closes well before the mall does.
