Tong Rim Thang, 'Tong by the roadside', started as a roadside stall and grew into several branches. This one sits in the car park of the Pla Yoo Yen seafood restaurant at 32/1 Ratchaphruek Road in Taling Chan, on the Thonburi side where there is no BTS, so you come by car or motorbike. The pitch is made-to-order cooking at curry-shop prices from a menu THE STANDARD counts at around 90 to 100 items. THE STANDARD's two must-orders are crab meat in thick egg at 290 baht and crispy pork 'bo krob' over rice at 60 baht; the pork is made in-house and stir-fried with chilli paste. A Wongnai photo review praises the plain crab-and-egg rice at 80 baht for an egg that is not too runny and a generous heap of rice, and Wongnai's Taling Chan list adds crab-egg stir-fried cabbage, sea bass tom yum, crispy pork with chilli and salt, and prawns in red curry paste over rice. The delivery page now shows crispy pork rice plates at 85 to 99 baht, against THE STANDARD's 60 in 2021, including a mala-sauce version at 85. Hours disagree: THE STANDARD had 06:00 to 19:30 in 2021 and Google shows 10:00 to 18:30, so call 062-335-5527 before an early or late visit. Google rates it 4.3 from more than 1,200 reviews, and a Wongnai member found free tables at 11:30 on a weekday.
