About
Jae Daeng Samyan is an Isan shop from the Samyan neighbourhood, where Wongnai counts the original among the long-running places not to miss. The ICONSIAM branch is a shop inside SookSiam, the indoor market zone on the ground floor, so you order at the counter and eat in the zone's shared seating.
Grilled pork neck, kor moo yang, is the signature. Ryoii's list for this branch also covers som tam with salted crab, som tam with crab and pla ra (fermented fish sauce), catfish larb and tap waan, an Isan salad of sliced liver. A Wongnai reviewer at ICONSIAM describes the large pork neck set with sticky rice as tender and juicy with a good dipping sauce. Back in Samyan the shop is also known for som tam Thai, nam tok moo and fried chicken.
Dish prices for this branch have not been published, so check the board at the counter. It opens 10:00 to 21:00 daily and stops serving an hour before the mall closes. Wongnai shows 3.5 from only 14 reviews; phone 066 149 9364. Come here for papaya salad and grilled pork when you don't want to cross the river to Samyan.
