About

Yào Rooftop Bar is the rooftop bar of Yào Restaurant on the 32nd floor of the Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse at 262 Surawong Road, and Masala Magazine calls it the city's only Chinese restaurant-cum-rooftop lounge. Time Out describes a 360-degree view with dim sum served alongside cocktails, and the menu is the downstairs kitchen's modern Shanghai cooking cut down to finger food. Masala's review listed xiao long bao at 138 baht, crab claws with shrimp and lime-chilli sauce at 188, crab and fish in tofu skin at 288, lotus-leaf sticky rice with Chinese sausage at 188, a Peking duck roll with caviar and wasabi at 428, soft-shell crab with dried chilli at 498, hand-cut noodles with spicy pork in the old Peking style at 268 and a roast duck, char siu and crispy pork platter at 988, with cocktails such as the Chinese Mule at 378, the Szechuan at 458 and the Dragon Dance at 485. That review dates from November 2020, so treat the numbers as a band. The restaurant's own site gives the rooftop bar's hours as 17:00 to 01:00 daily (the restaurant itself serves lunch 11:30 to 14:30 and dinner 18:00 to 22:00) and says walk-ins are welcome but booking is recommended, as does Phuket 101. It is about twelve minutes on foot from BTS Chong Nonsi, or a short taxi along Surawong. Google 4.7 from almost 900 reviews.
