About
Thipsamai is the pad thai shop on Maha Chai Road at Pratu Phi, a few doors from Jay Fai. The shop's website says it started selling in 1939 as Pad Thai Pratu Phi and took the Thipsamai name in 1966; it now has branches in ICONSIAM, on the G floor of Siam Paragon and on Phutthamonthon Sai 4. Time Out's 2018 review describes lines snaking around the block before opening and the cooks working separate wok stations in view of the queue. The signature is Samai's pad thai wrapped in a thin omelette and cooked with shrimp fat, smoky from the wood fire; Time Out recorded the classic plate at 60 baht, the omelette-wrapped shrimp-fat version at 90 and giant prawns at 200 in 2018, and a November 2025 news item quoted on the shop's site puts the featured dishes at 60 to 100 baht. The shop's menu adds a vegetarian jay pad thai, a noodle-free version and the two-topping song krueang, and it notes that some items and prices differ by branch. Fresh orange juice is the standard pairing, and the shop itself warns that taste and price change with the season. The website lists 09:00 to midnight, closed Tuesday. Google shows 4.2 from more than 12,600 reviews.
