About
Thonglor Yokocho recreates a Showa-era drinking alley on the Sukhumvit stretch at the foot of Thonglor. The owner is a Japanese chef from Hokkaido, and the dish the place is built around is Hokkaido soup curry: a broth made from more than ten vegetables, heat selectable from level 1 to 100, with toppings that run from melted cheese and mentaiko to braised chicken leg and fresh Hiroshima oysters. After that, order the charcoal-grilled tsukune, which come in eight flavours, the house gyoza at eleven pieces a plate, okonomiyaki in either Osaka or Hiroshima style, soba-meshi and the spice ramen. Premium bar snacks include beef tongue, grilled stingray, wagyu sukiyaki and shiokara. There are 110 seats across a counter, tables, sunken horigotatsu seating, a private room and a pet-friendly outdoor area. Hours are Monday to Friday 5pm to midnight and weekends 11.30am to midnight. Parking is three cars out front on odd-numbered days only, or free parking against spend at nearby lots. It is about fifteen minutes on foot from BTS Thong Lo; book by phone or LINE, and groups of six to thirty are welcome.
